Like many people I have been told not to go to work as the hotel has closed. Due to a reduction in my hours I took a 2nd part time job.
I am being told that the hotel will not pay me the 80% the government spoke about earlier in the week due to this 2nd job. Is this correct?

Based on the information available, and remember that details have not yet been finalised, an employer can designate employees as furloughed employees and get support from the government to cover 80% of the normal pay. There is nothing in the information so far available about second jobs.
However the key point is that it is for the employer to decide who they wish to designate as a furloughed employee but they also need to have regard to the employment contract.
this question has been discussed over and over again already on this forum.

You cannot be furloughed and still work for your employer, so yes they are correct.readyteddycav said:Like many people I have been told not to go to work as the hotel has closed.
