Hot tubs this summer

Hi all - joined as we can't find anywhere else to get good advice.

As a family, we want to get a hot tub this summer. We stayed in a lovely cottage over the christmas period in Northumberland and it had a hot tub... well, we used it two or three times a day, we just loved the social aspect of it and Mrs V also loved a relaxing couples time of an evening in it with a glass of red. The market is jam packed with people offering great deals - does anybody have any recommendations or any dos/donts for us?

We have about £4-4.5k to spend.

We have looked at three companies that have a good offering - H2O hot tubs who have a showroom too (bit far for us to travel but reassuring), Super hottubs who are closer to us and the tub company who look nice but seem to hide their prices which is worrying?
As I say, any advice about buying or recommendations would be most welcome. We dont spend this sum of money lightly so it has to be right.

Before anybody starts - I dont care if you dont like hot tubs or dont agree with them, they're very clean (more so than a public swimming pool given the chlorine concentration) and its our choice.

You do get that none of these places are/should be open now and the chances of you getting your nice hot tub in time for the summer is pretty small.

Op:  Really? The state the country is in now and it will worsen drastically by the summer time, because of the actions by stupid people re spreading virus now.

Do you want to spend that amount on such an unessential item? When you cannot put food on the table at least you will have your hot tub.

But you asked a question, and I like optimist's so if I was silly enough to buy one at the moment I would go here:

Appreciate time taken to reply. We only want to use the hot tub (which we can order online and have delivered) for the family time at home, for socialising with the people already in our household. We don't have an issue spending that much on a non-essential item.

We are more than comfortable enough to put food on our table for the forseeable. I was of the impression this was a forum for giving advice rather than judging people's purchasing choices.

    Not to worry, thanks anyway.

And I did not give you advice?  I said it was not a good idea in present circumstance's to spend that much on a non essential item, but gave you a link to purchase a good make if you so desired, delivered at a good price? You do know what advice is? you get someone who disagrees with you and others that do. Your choice what to do with it. Enjoy your hot tub. Take care.

Our local B & Q have them on show , I do not know if it is a franchise that is selling them.
As for someone spending their money on luxury goods , well its theirs to spend after all who knows were we will be in the future.

From previous threads (try a site search)
    1. don't believe the running cost figures the manufacturers/suppliers give
2.depending on the layout of your garden getting water & elec to the tub can be surprising expensive

Well established and sell Master Spas products, which have a good reputation
For budget products, Costco appear to be reasonably popular.
Genrally, the cheaper tubs will ost more to run and won't have as good a reliability of spare parts or life expectsncy.
Facebook group ...Hot tub owners uk,has lots and lots good AND bad comments and advice

We had an LA Spas hot tub for many years. It cost around £11k but we got so much enjoyment out of it we felt it more than paid for itself  ;)

Ours came from an independent retailer in the south of England, but even back then (2005) you could pick them up far cheaper online and prices have definitely dropped in the intervening years.

I'd agree that the set up costs are not inexpensive - we moved ours twice cross country so had this x3 - but again the pleasure we had using it as a family over a period of ten years was huge.

In the current climate, I'd be looking for recommendations for a reputable online supplier and the facebook group suggested by vansboy above seems a good place to start.....
