Sainsbury’s vulnerable deliveries

Hello everyone
Does anyone know the solution to this please. I have a 90 yr old aunt too far away to shop for and no delivery slots in her area. I’ve been trying to get deliveries sent to her address from my own Sainsbury’s account but am not getting slots as she is not on their vulnerable list. Nowhere else locally has any slots either. The Sainsbury’s number you are asked to call is of course endlessly busy and asks you to call back (3 days now!). My question is, does anyone know how people get onto their vulnerable list? Is it just existing customers who they happen to know the situation of? Or is there a local source of information that they are using? And would it be better for me to set up a separate account for her rather than adding her to mine? And what are other people doing about distant elderly relatives?

Thanks, and hope you’re all staying well.

I am currently in the same position as you. My Stepfather is 79 and has leukemia and is in the Shielding Group. Sainsbury's have not managed to identify this on his account and I have been trying to get through for the past 3 days.
I have, this morning, managed to get past the recorded message which cuts you off and have now been in a queue for the last 73 minutes and counting. Been at it solid since 8 am this morning.
According to Facebook the number is open until 11.30 pm so I would advise to just keep continually ringing them and when you eventually get in the queue hang on in there.
Have you registered your Aunt on the Government Shielding website? This is supposed to provide help if and when needed locally. https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable You will need her NHS number and use your own email address and phone numbers if necessary.

It's really frustrating - I was able to get through to Sainsbury's on Friday 13th when they announced that they were putting provisions in place for older and vulnerable customers and I was setting up an account for my parents, both 70+ and Dad extremely vulnerable as terminally ill and on chemo. There was nowhere in the setup process to state that they were vulnerable. The Sainsbury's adviser said that they would be announcing how to register as vulnerable on the following Monday. Now of course you can't get through. You'd think it would be easy enough to register vulnerable status on the website - upload proof of date of birth, hospital letters etc?0

Wont help with Sainburys but it's worth checking if prime now is available in your area (would need an Amazon prime account). Delivery spots appear throughout the day and not everythings being delivered but it's been the only place I've managed to find that has managed to do same or next day or at the very least have delivery slots available. It is a case of ordering and checking back on the checkout page frequently to grab a delivery window though.0

I'm in the same situation. My dad is 78 and disabled and I usually do most of his shopping when I visit most weeks but I'm having to stay away now. Couldn't book a slot using my account, couldn't create a new account for my dad as all new registrations have been suspended and couldn't get through to their helpline. His other alternative Morrisons are even worse.0

I’ve been unable to get any joy with Sainsbury’s or Tesco but I’ve managed to get a order & collect with Asda but today I’ve logged as vulnerable via GOV.UK the same as wozzywoo mentions above so fingers crossed; at the end of the day it’s worth trying to go via this way as trying to get help via the listed number is just a pre-recorded message that takes you no further

Try registering here https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable
I believe they then inform Sainsbury's somehow (no idea how)
Edit: sorry, I see the link has already been provided above0 -
Sainsbury's have sent me an email telling me that they are making home delivery slots for disabled and elderly a priority
But how do you register to get on this list ?0 -
Following, as I'd be interested in if this is available to the government list of the vulnerable from previous weeks or if it is the extremely vulnerable, those that should have had text messages this week. It seems unclear and Sainsburys say vulnerable, the website link says extremely.
While I understand there's a lot going on, it is frustrating when Gov/businesses don't do more to provide FAQs. Gov.uk says to apply if unsure, but then probably get loads of people applying that aren't eligible and then takes more time to process for the eligible ones. Same for the Sainsburys helpline.
Clear info and fielding the obvious questions with FAQs, means so much less uncertainty and directs resources to those that have more individual needs0 -
You ring the helpline or let them catch up using your nectar card data or the government list they have access to.
