Started new job before lockdown - Furlough help

I posted this on another thread.
Employers are understandably being put under a lot of pressure by employees, including those asking to be re-hired. If I was tasked with writing the details of this scheme (perish the thought), how would I distinguish genuine claims to help the business survive and keep jobs from claims in respect of jobs already lost where the employer is just trying to help employees out? I might very well say that I need a written statement explaining why they won't just be laid off at the end of the scheme. That would be hard to write for people already laid off. But I might go further and say they have to be kept on and paid for at least as long as their furlough, or the money will have to be repaid. Then I would be accused of forcing the businesses I was supposed to help out of business by demanding the grant back.
We don't know what the details of the scheme will be, but we are all supposed to pull together and do the right thing, even if it is hard and even if it seems unfair. I would say that isn't just about following social distancing or self isolating rules. It also includes not seeking to take advantage of grants targeted at one thing by using them for another.

I think this is a good question,, although some of answers you're getting aren't very helpful.
I have a similar problem. I leave my current employer on Friday, who isn't in a need to Furlough, to join a company on Monday who is furloughing. As i wasn't employed by the new company in February they are unable to apply for my furlough grant. Does this mean that I recieve nothing? surely there are other people in this position?1 -
As you already work for the company then yes if the company wants to furlough you then they can. The scheme is to protect jobs.

We don’t know that yet. See https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6119611/furloughed-workers-please-read#latestsharpe106 said:As you already work for the company then yes if the company wants to furlough you then they can. The scheme is to protect jobs.
It is unclear whether employees will need to have been employed by a particular date or worked for their employer for a particular length of time.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
