To sell or not

I sell one item, the post offices are open if I get an order can I send it?
It's not essential that I keep my listing active but why would they keep the post office open if people are not supposed to use them. I went yesterday and they were operating a one out one in system.
Just what to do what is best.

If your post office is in walking or driving distance and the orders make it worthwhile to pack and send and you can do it in 1 go quickly enough then do what you think best but it does go against what the Government recommend. If your taking a considerable amount of time to post items say because you have multiple items and require stamps printed onto each one then this takes time and might not be ideal. You have to use common sense in all honesty. I used to Frank all my items and put them into a sack and just drop them into the post. This is far easier and better during a time like this as there is no direct contact with anyone. Post offices will remain open until advised not to simply because they are regarded as an essential service and not just for sending out items.1

I ended most of my listings the other day and the last couple yesterday. They're not essential items and, if they do sell, it means going to a public place when I really don't have to. Even with no direct contact to drop something off there is still a risk.
It's not worth the risk just because I'd like the items to be sold!
Just because somewhere is open doesn't mean you should go there. Post Offices are open for those posting essential items.
More items in the postal system means more items being touched and more risk to postal workers and those receiving any mail.
Lockdown is happening across the world for a very good reason. Government advice needs to be followed and that includes not going out unless it's necessary and posting non-essential items is not necessary.3 -
My last listings are due to end tomorrow and I wont be listing again till this is over. Why would you want to put yourself and others at risk by going somewhere that can be avoided?.1

Thank you for this. I am usually housebound anyway so all this not much of a change for me and I think there are some aspects of the reality of it that will take time to fully register in my brain. I had been half thinking of trying in the next few months to sell a few more things on eBay that I've not had the energy to list yet, but this has helped me make the sensible decisionFlyonthewall said:I ended most of my listings the other day and the last couple yesterday. I ended most things yesterday leaving a couple of items that had watchers. If they dont sell those will be ended as well. My PO is next to S******y so I can combine the trips but not everyone pays at a convenient point for my shopping needs so will save multiple trips.

You're welcome. I think a lot of people feel the same; the reality hasn't quite hit yet and it still all feels odd.Spoonie_Turtle said:

I've been trying to get more listed this year. Thinking what needs to go up and making an effort to actually list things that I've been wanting to sell for a while. Instead, I'll now be sorting and drafting listings ready for when it's safe to start selling again (and resaving draft listings every so often or they tend to vanish!). Buyers will still be there in a few weeks or even a few months time. For now we just all need to keep ourselves and others as safe as possible

Sorry but you really shouldnt be making things up. "Online retail is still open and encouraged and postal and delivery service will run as normal." PO arent just open for essential items, all retailers are still selling onine.Flyonthewall said:I ended most of my listings the other day and the last couple yesterday. Its a personal decision whether you want to keep selling or not and depends on personal circumstances.

Online sales are being encouraged probably for morale, and locally Royal Mail are recruiting temporary post workers to keep the post running.I can do a non contact drop for my mail so may stay open for a while , not that I’m actually selling anything anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I only sell our own unwanted items and had three listed which were due to end at the weekend. One sold so I posted it out on Monday but never relisted any and have also stopped advertising on Facebook. Our clutter is now being sorted and stored for later in the year.0

This is true but they have business contracts and pick-up points that aren't public places. Online retailers are essentially a closed system, whereas Joe Public making special journeys to post stuff is different.extrafisher said:
