I booked a holiday for February when the flights were released. They were really cheap and I was planning the holiday before any of this started. I spent less than £100, which I could afford to lose if worst came to the worst and I couldn't travel. Not booking hotels or anything yet, but if I did I would book it with the free cancellation (I always do!). I'm getting refunds from a few things that aren't happening now.

If things are still bad in 11 months hopefully I'll be able to change it for a later date. If we don't book flights for the future the airlines may go into administration, but the risk is there if you do book flights and they still go bust. I personally wouldn't book long haul as I can't afford to lose that much money.

I was reading earlier that flight booking for early 2021 are up over 200% on this year.  Book now or prepare to be disappointed.

The world is going to be a very different place when all this is over.  I doubt many travel agencies will survive, and airlines will definitely be slimmed down.

Our passports run out in December, we are not rushing to renew.  We are just grateful that we have visited a lot of places that we wanted to, although the rest of the world is still waiting.  We were in Costa Rica in December.  It is so sad that a lot of places are losing their main income and it will take a long time to recover.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

I booked flights for Feb 2021 the saving was worth the risk of losing the money. Paid CC & have annual insurance etc might even get it back if they go bust.

& they're booked, ticketed and confirmed - hopefully the airline is still operating next Winter.

I booked a 3 nights stay in Paris for mid december, yesterday, due to Easyjet releasing a load of cheap flights.

Used Hilton Honors points for the hotel, the same points I was supposed to be using in Tokyo a week ago, and the flights were only £115 so if I lose that because the world hasn't recovered by then Im ok with it

Also my valentines present to my other half was 5 days in NY booked for Sept, however dont imagine that will be going ahead now.

I don't know why some people are predicting the end of the travel industry just because we're in lockdown for maybe a few months. Yes some airlines, tour operators and hotel chains might go bust, but others will start up and take over. Airports will still be there, hotels will still be there, they're not going to convert them all to shopping malls or housing estates. Governments will probably help kickstart their tourist industry if necessary.
I never book far in advance, typical tourist flights are usually cheaper nearer the time plus I can never envisage what I'll feel like in 3-6 months time let alone a year, but there are some tempting offers at the moment - booking flights with a CC and cancellable hotels should be relatively safe. Though might have a problem if the flight is available but restrictions stop you getting it....
