You need better friends if the ones you have are engaged in self-adulation, so I suggest you unfriend . unfollow them so you stop seeing their self-adulation. I don't see any of that, but my friends on facebook are members of my family and people I know in real life, so I don't feel the need to do paranoid superspy ninja stuff like hiding my name.spudpie said:What a load of garbage. Well, I created an account and got a better understanding of what it is and how people use it. It's mostly a platform for self-adulation.
BTW to answer a question you asked earlier, if you post something using "Friends only" then your friends can't share it, nor can their friends see it. Although people that don't understand facebook privacy will tell you different because they heard it from a woman at bingo and her second cousin works at PC World selling printers so knows about this stuff, or something, If you tag someone in a post, their friends can see it as well as yours. Thanks for your post and your advice, it's very welcome. I'd prefer you to have quoted me in full to keep it in context, I did go on to say, "There are quite a few clubs etc that have their own private Facebook sites which is in line with how I want to use it so that's a good thing for me. Thanks for all your post". The profiles that I looked at are all public. I hadn't "Friended" any of them. None of them are any of my real friends or relatives. Bit of an assumption on your part there. I suppose the fact that they are public speaks for itself. They're happy to post selfies etc for the whole world to see. I've joined quite a few "Groups" in connection with my hobbies & sports etc. I'm sure there's a lot for me to learn about using Facebook.
I don't feel the need to hide my name either. BTW what's yours.
