DCBL - Notice of Debt Recovery

Hi,
I have received 7 letter today from DCBL in relation to unpaid parking charges to HighView of £140 per a letter from 2018. The PCNs were ignored and they came over a 4 month period.
Any help on what to do next?
Thanks

Advice to ignore a PCN has not been given here since the law changed in 2012. A simple appeal as per the template in blue text would have killed these off.

The fourth post of the NEWBIES tells you why it IS safe to ignore debt crawlers who have no powers other than the ability to send you poor quality bog paper.

You could send a late appeal to Highview otherwise you are in ignore mode unless you get real court papers.

In future please read the NEWBIES that asks you to read it before starting a thread as it has answers to most of your questions.

Notice of debt recovery can be ignored so DCBL are wasting their time and money.
They have added fake amounts to each ticket which would result in a court spanking. But according to BrownTrout on here in his thread today all such cases currently are on hold for 3 months in the courts.

Ignore these silly letters and wait, would be pointless for any parking company going to court  for the forseeable future . Maybe next year now

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

If you have based your forum username on your real name, you may want to get your forum username changed to something completely anonymous.

To help with that, have a read of this item from the Forum's FAQs:
    Can I change my username?

In most circumstances, we don't allow this.
The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk e.g. you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something which gives away your identity within your username.
If you fall into this category, email the Forum Team - forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com - your current username, the email address you registered with and three alternative usernames in order of preference.

  • Thank you for the advice, I did read the newbies thread etc but couldn't find anything relating to multiple DCBLs for separate parking and ones totaling to over £700. If I was to do a late appeal to Highview, what would be best to say? Also it is only a generic username, thanks again

You appeal to Highview using the appeal text written in BLUE in the NEWBIE sticky.
  • Is it best to appeal all in the same one or send appeals individually?

Either or and what suits you and the time you wish to spend. Don;t expect much

DCBL  by the way are rather new in the scam, they don't understand and think they can add fake amounts to claims to which they copied from 2 other dodgy legals who are now getting spanked by the courts

You can read about this bunch in the ABUSE OF PROCESS thread

How did you get all these tickets

The NEWBIES tells you precisely what to do relating to multiple debt collector letters. It matters not if it is one for 1p or seven totalling £700.

The NEWBIES also tells you what to put in the appeal.

I did tell you that the NEWBIES already answers most of your questions. Reading it thoroughly saves us drowning in questions that are already answered.

  • These came from someone accidentally forgetting to pay their monthly parking which they do so all the rest of the time
