Thomas Cook Refund paid by cash

hi im still waiting on my thomas cook refund, i paid the majority of my holiday by cash that i had saved up over the past year or so. they have emailed asking me for proof of withdrawal because I paid more than £1000 cash which i don't understand because it has not been money from my bank account so i can not really prove where the money has come from? has anyone had this problem and is there a way around this?

The problem is that the CAA received 85000 fraudulent claims and are therefore insisting on proof of payment. You will have to explain where the money came from if you didn't withdraw it from a bank as frankly few people would walk around our High Streets with more than a thousand pounds in their pockets
  • Surely there is TC paperwork indicating payment when the booking was made ?
