Non refundable hotel

I booked a hotel in Prague which was non refundable on my credit card, my flight is cancelled & easy jet have reimbursed my card so I contacted Sainsburys bank today to claim on my card for the hotel but they won't as its non refundable. I did say if it was refundable then I would't need to claim. I feel I have paid for something that I can't have as we cannot get into the czech republic

The credit card won't pay for the hotel, as it's still available.
You can't make a section 75 claim for something that isn't refundable.0 -
The hotel has cancelled my booking & I have a confirmation email from them0

If the hotel has cancelled it, rather than you, then they will refund you.0

They have said they won't0

Why did they say they were cancelling it?bert-09 said:The hotel has cancelled my booking & I have a confirmation email from them
And, to be clear, it was their choice to cancel, not yours, as in they contacted you and told you that they were cancelling it, you at no point asked them to?0 -
If you called up and cancelled the hotel then it is your request and you won't get any refund. If you cannot get there because the flights were cancelled them your recourse is to claim on your travel insurance
if, on the other hand, they told you that they were closing and therefore all bookings were cancelled including yours then they should refund you0 -
We just received an email last Friday which had my booking on it for 31st March & it said cancelled.I presume this is because Prague is on lockdown0

an email.from who saying what was cancelled?0

the apartment company in Prague0

I don't understand the problem
if the owner of the apartment has cancelled the booking then clearly they should refund you
if they don't refund you then you can claim on your credit card under section 75
just tell the cc company you booked the apartment and now they have cancelled it and they wont refund you so you would like to claim under section 75
if a credit card refuses tell them you'
want to complain and put in a formal complaint to the credit card company0
