Hello
I was wondering if someone could help me.

My mums phone is old, no space, and requiring new things like a new screen, battery etc
So I trying to be a good son (I pay for her contract) go onto her three app, and click on offers and get her a new phone with my details. (again to pay the bill) and a mothers day gift. Anyway I get the pac code/numbers (after a quick google) but I think I did this wrong. I was told that the phone number would change on thursday.
After a bit of googling later, I notice that the websites say from an old network to three network. So I go onto three app and click chat. I speak to them regarding this, and they said that I need to transfer my mums number (the one she wants to keep) to a pay as you go, for 30 days, then after 30days it will switch to the new contract. I don't mind paying for both months of being switched, as long as she can get the number working on her new phone asap. Three said that we could do it in 10 days by getting a sim with another provider, and transfer the number to that sim, then once that number is transferred over I can get a pac code from that provider and then give it to three and have the number on the new phone.

Is there an easier way?

The quickest way is the second way using another provider's Sim .

Yes, second way is the quickest. One of the cheapest ways is to port to Asda Mobile and then port back into the new 3 contract. Asda only require a top up of £5 to activate the sim, whereas many other PAYG providers require £10.
  • Why not buy your mum a phone and go sim only?
