Octopus energy

Moved over from coop energy to octopus energy some months ago. The first problem I had was they doubled my monthly payments from 70ish to over 150, after much struggle to get threw to them it was aggred to lower it to 100 until they got all the files moved over from coop energy. 
I though everything was fine and have been submitting meter reads every month however today I noticed that my account is 500plus in debt so I rang and ask how this could be as I've not long been with them and at first the lady said it did seem strange, but in the end said something about November and miscalculations. And that it was right and that I do owe the money. I said I was really not happy and felt that I was being cheated and that I'd look into changing suppliers so asked how much I should be paying not including the debt so I could compare, I was told for both gas and electricity I would be paying 68 (currently paying them 100)
What can I do if anything I'm paying more than I should have and some how after only being with them for less than 4 months I'm 500 in debt?

Please forget £'s and DD for a while - what is your consumption in kWh.  Hopefully you've got the monthly readings.

Before Octopus took over Co-op were you in credit ?

692kWh a year is ridiculous (low)
35310 - 37949..  I see the 37949 is Estimated - what is it now.

I hope this hasn't been confused with the house move - you did give the old supplier readings when you moved out and got a final bill. Then you moved in and gave new supplier readings and then switched suppliers...…………..

we left the old house on the 22nd, so im unsure where they have gotten this new read from re the 24th im going to have to ring them again i think

6,647.2 kWh 12 months usage.

So I gave the last reading on the 22nd dec 35313.0, the rest is nothing to do with me, so this is a big chunk of the money they say i owe, will ring um tomoz

Update, Have just got off the phone with Octopus and they again say that the 600 debt is correct.

So for 3years with the coop we had no problems, but in 5months with Octopus they tripled my bill and im 600 in debt go figure.

Can you please clarify that this £600 debt refers to your old property and that on the 22nd Dec you rang Octopus to give them your final readings.


PS I was with Coop/Flow and it took Octopus until last month to confirm that the info they inherited was correct and included all the DD's

Has the OP got old co op bills ??

My co op/Octupus is seamless . Meter readings correct DD correct though probably short by £15 by end of contract .
