When my battery died I told Dyson that was the last one I'd ever buy from them, they then offered me a free battery.

I bought a Shark when my old Dyson conked out on me.  I already knew before researching that batteries won't last much longer than 5 years, yet advisors told me that cordless machines are convenient.  It's a shame that the batteries are not kind to both the environment and my wallet, hence why I bought a corded vacuum.

Bought a FLYLINKTECH battery from Amazon in January and it's been fine so far.

    Thanks for all replies.
It would seem to be carry on using cleaner on normal power which works fine for what I basically use the cleaner for.
Buy a Dyson battery at £70-00 and have the security of a 2 year guarantee.
Buy a cheaper battery on line and take a gamble.
If there are any other options for me? please let me know, but would welcome any more replies.
    Thanks.

One other thing that I have learnt is that for two years use and a outlay of £450-00 , would not recommend anyone buying a Dyson, also would apply to many other battery operated appliances.
Better to buy a Henry at a fraction of the price and most probably indestructible!
They are very handy and portable, but until manufacturers bring battery costs down significantly , don't buy.
I'm also wondering about pure battery powered cars, what cost if the battery packs up, what are their estimated lifespan?
