Dyson Absolute V8 battery.

I hope that this is OK on this site?
Basically, I bought the above type Dyson cleaner, the cleaner worked fine until after some time (25 months)  when using the higher power the cleaner cut out immediately.
Dyson customer service informs me that a new battery is required. Filters are OK as far as I can see, so should not be that.
Unlucky for me as just over a month after the warranty expired (2 years).
My query is upon searching for replacement battery, they would seem to range from £25 - £65 on ebay, Dyson quote £70-
Has any one had this problem and how/what priced battery did they get and from where?
Thanks for any/all replies

If you get a third party you have no guarantee it will be any good.  Just because OEM batteries may be made in China doesn't mean 3rd party Chinese batteries will be the same quality.  If there is anything wrong with the new battery if it is a Dyson one you will be able to use the warranty to sort it out.  With a 3rd party one good luck doing that.

Might be worth opening the casing and replacing the 18650 batteries with decent Panasonic or Samsung cells. There are 6 cells in the battery pack so it depends on the price per cell if it's worth doing.

There are good batteries and cheap rubbish batteries, the problem is they often look identical.  At first you could tell by the
weight but then naughty manufacturers would stick a tiny battery in the case and fill it with flour or sand to add weight.

Your 2000mAh battery could be a tiny 200mAh one and a lot of flour or sand.  If buying batteries you need a
    reputable supplier.

  • Hi have had this issue in past and it could be the filter needs a clean - I think the motor overheats quickly when on max with a dirty filter - take it out, wash it - leave overnight. It usually works fine again. Al

Thanks, but no I don't think it's this. All filters washed regularly. Works fine on lower power. The Dyson help person thought about the filters first of all but after a few follow through procedures reckons its the battery.
  • I was in a similar position with my v7 animal recently 🦊🐱I phoned up dyson customer services ,and purchased a replacement from them . I had just missed out on a free replacement by a month . I used them again, as a few months back the bottom of the bin wouldn't click back into place . They sent me a replacement free of charge , as I was in warranty . As the customer service was friendly and excellent , I used them again for replacement battery . I now know, that the current battery has less than 2 years remaining and I will repeat the process again . When I got the replacement battery I took filter off the top of it, and washed/ dried it and the suction was improved .
