Well then, a single storey would be easy.Double storey, you have to consider the neighbours so, using the 45 degree angle from the nearest neighbour's window, if you were building a rear extension, it may have to be limited towards the detached side.An extension is probably as stressful (as well as more expensive) as moving house. Five years is a while though, so what house prices and you situation is like then.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

A bit of lateral thinking, a 3 bed with 2 good size reception rooms (or even 1 large and 1 small) and 2nd recep used as bedroom either by you or eldest child. Or eldest child does what many have had to do over the years and continue sharingIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Obviously if i didn't extend he would continue sharing, or id looks into a loft conversion, my question was regarding an extension though. I have a child with additional needs and ideally wouldn't want them sharing so i am exploring options around that.lincroft1710 said:A bit of lateral thinking, a 3 bed with 2 good size reception rooms (or even 1 large and 1 small) and 2nd recep used as bedroom either by you or eldest child. If your child has special needs, do they get anxious about change or disruption as building an extension is very disruptive and very, very messy. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
