Trying to orgainse a weekend away for two people (as follows)
Depart: Thursday 7th July (late)
Return: Saturday 9th July (late)
Only day I can get off work is Friday 8th July and perhaps leave work early on the 7th so days of trip must include either the Friday, Saturday or the Sunday (back to work on Monday!)
Fly from either: Southampton, Bournemouth, Gatwick or Heathrow.
Fly to either: Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, etc etc
(Stay in Hotel)
This is my two choices I have come up with, can anyone find anything better (must be cheaper or at worst comparable) only I wondered if I'm looking in all the right places??
Option 1:
Amsterdam:
Flights = £158 for 2 people incl taxes (gatwick to amsterdam) easyjet
Hotel = £120 (for room for both nights)
Leidseplein Hotel
http://www.hoteladvice.com/searchdetail.cfm?hotelID=222&req=true
Total: £278
Option 2:
Paris:
Flights: £161 for 2 people incl taxes (heathrow to charles de gaulle) bmi
Hotel = £107 (for room for both nights)
Paris Montmartre (is this central??) http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c/1/en/rates/parmm?ias=y&availCheckCaching=n&_requestid=709478
Total: £268
Any better deals out there??

I wouldn't bother flying anywhere, most of your time will be in the airport! Why not do a Uk break, Hilton or Moat house deals start at £99 for two people for two nights including breakfast and dinner the first night.0

I spose..... I just fancied getting away for a bit and a chance to do a day or two sightseeing as its the only holiday I'll get this year as we can't afford to take the kids and mum will have them a couple of nights....
Maybe London with a show then?
Still like the idea of Paris or Amsterdam - boo hoo

Have you considered one of the deals you can get on Eurostar to Paris or Brussels? I'm sure these are usually available from about £130 per person.
Longer travelling time, but much less 'hanging around in the airport' time!0 -
I would also consider Dublin, and use Bristol as an alternative airport.
E.g. Ryanair
Flight out Thurs 7th @ 19.05 = 49p + tax
Flight back Sun 10th @ 13.05 = 29.99 + tax
Total for 2 = £110 inc tax.
Money saved on flights = extra night away.
There must be nice B&B @ £50 per night.Bad Spellers of the world untie0 -
Thanks for your help guys but I think I might have to be a real MSE'r and give this one a miss, we might go for a night away up in London, it just all works out to cost so much when you add it up!!
Think Bristol is a bit far to drive chester_draws, think its about 2 and a half hours away and Rynair fly to dublin out of Bournemouth but we already did that last year! grin!
Thanks for your help but it looks like we might just have to go out for dinner instead - lol!!Official DFW Nerd 210

You could do Bournemouth to Amsterdam, fly late on Thursday 19.20, but back on Sunday morning at 10.25 is problem so extra nights hotel. Flights are £177 for 2, but factor in that you aren't getting taxi/train to Gatwick(not knowing where you are based)
or alternative Bournemouth to malaga Out Thurs 17.10, back in either the Saturday or Sunday at 21:30 for £77.69 per person(£155 total) not sure how much hotels are down there though, should be sunny though0 -

Aw you are definatley tempting me now!! Malaga sounds lovely, I might just have to peek and see how much the rooms are in Malaga!!
I'm about a mile from Southampton Airport so that would be my number one choice (could almost walk there if didnt have the bags!) and know Flybe flys from there but there doesn't seem to be any decent deals???
Or at least I'm not sure on the destinations anyway
