    Mystery solved.
Made a ppi complaint about first national tricity finance about 2 years ago and it got passed to santander.
Completely forgot about it after a few phone calls saying 'it wasn't them' and 'they were investigating'.
Came home to a letter from them saying they investigated and couldn't determine if ppi was right so as a gesture of good will they are refunding £1215.33.
I couldn't have been more surprised if I had woke up with my head sewn to the carpet!

It is a lovely surprise. I have plenty of things needed, but with the current climate will save it for a rainy day.
Also going to make a donation to charity and try and help out a foodbank.

Many thanks for all the replies.
