Mysterious bacs payment into account

Hello,
Late last night I noticed a payment of £1215.33 had been made into my account the only details listed was a 7 digit number starting 5150.
I was not expecting any payment in, I had made some complaints against payday loans but all had been declined.
I rang the bank and they said they have very little information on incoming transfers and that I should wait until its 'posted' tomorrow.
Obviously - I wont be touching the money.
Anyone have any idea how I can solve this mystery?

Likely another person has made a mistake, I believe eventually your bank will ask you to return the money to the sender, if the sender contacts their bank and tells them what has happened, their bank will contact your bank who will in turn contact you. But yes, wise not to touch the money!1

Another *person* is unlikely to have used BACs to transfer money - it's normally used by businesses.0

While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Could equally be an employer. It has happened to me in the past, HR dept then asked for the money back albeit with the option of paying it back in chunks.0

another thing that makes me wonder is the amount. It seems specific. its not round like £1200 or £1250 its £1215.330

If anyone contacts you to pay it back make sure it truly is your bank and not some random stranger saying they 'accidentally' paid it in3
