Vanguard 80% and Coronavirus

Direct Debits use the BACS system, so the money goes out in the early hours when your bank does it's processing run. When Vanguard receive it is an entirely different question, but as Bowlhead says, they are likely to assume you're good for the money and place the order so you get that evening's price.tel_ said:Do you know what time Vanguard takes payments from peoples bank accounts when a monthly occurring direct debit is taken out?
I'm guessing that's before the 10am cut off? I've not managed to work this out.

I am also on the same boat and my heart sank when I saw all my gains wiped and that is over many years. However, I think it is best just to leave it and ride out the storm. Good luck to us all!0

A small query regarding each day's percentage posted at 9pm every night.
I've noticed that if I log in, say between 9pm-11pm, to see the percentage figure, eg. 16.92%. And then log in the next day, but put that PREVIOUS date in again, it will change e.g 14.86%.
I take it the figure adjusts because it still has to account for other world markets still trading? (9pm here but 4pm New York).0 -
As you say. The fund cannot be valued and units priced until after all the markets in the fund have closed. The information will therefore be in arrears.1

I am invested in VLS 80 and also HSBC GS Dynamic, from the peak just a few weeks ago they have both reversed and I am down about 70K, but like others have said it's only a paper loss. A 15K loss wouldn't trouble me, in fact this 70K "loss" doesn't trouble me because I don't need the money for another 10 years or so.
If you don't need the money now then just forget about it, it's a great time to keep investing, picking up units on the cheap. I am also invested in AXA Framlington Global Technology and managed to pick some up when the price was down at 370p, today they are 381p, so it is possible to benefit from this downturn.
So I'd hold your nerve, keep investing and don't worry about current valuations. Markets will bounce back when this is all over, and those units you picked up on the cheap will help accelerate your portfolio!1
