Just a little update on here and a bit more good news. Today was pay day( and breathe) my. Mortgage, car insurance and 1 loan payment came out, £500 transfered to the Mrs and somehow had managed to fit a very large shop in this morning amid all the chaos which should se uss ticking over for the next 10 days or so. I had set up a direct debit of £100 to the credit card but have put an additional £100 on it today as we're already £200 to the gold on that front. I also received an annual 5% pay rise. Woohoo!! After pension deductions that'll give me an additional £70 a month to start firing off the debt with. As for gamblingm demons tried to niggle away at me yesterday but have resisted strongly. As I said earlier I have genuinely no way of gambling now but that annoying 'try and find a way' crept in. I Will not give into it, just reminds me quitting smoking now which I did with ease. Let's keep this positivity rolling amongst the chaos elsewhere!3

I have to agree with Onwards&Upwards. Whist I accept in a lot of instances, if not most, the risk of gambling relapse is there long term; in a sizeable minority the experience of addiction and recovery is so painful and the hatred of those who have taken money from you so great, you could never willingly hand over stake money again. This is different from substance abuse which has a physiological addiction (as well as psychological) meaning an alcoholic's relapse risks a swift and difficult to overturn slide into dependency. I know this:
 1. Having been a gambling addict and recovered (my hatred of the gambling industry and the UKGC is unwaivering).
 2. I have a degree in a related field.Admin for Tilly Tidy to £1825 DFW challenge: 2021

Just an update on this one.
Still have remained gamble free since last post and not had any urges for a while now. I sold my car(pride and joy) to buy a cheaper one and use the difference to pay off some of the debt. It's been a tough year but so happy to be seeing the positives now. For anyone else going through the same thing keep your chin up and what might seem impossible can beckne very real if you put your mind to it.7
