Thinking of switching to OneTel

The £20 credit for signing-up online I received within a few days. They do say the £20 referral/recommendation credit is payable after 2months (3+months) I'm not sure if that's wrote down anywhere but wasn't that bothered as at least I got the £20 signing-up fee off them and I did get the £20 credit for being referred as well. Remember the choice is yours.
UPDATE: Just found that website where you saw that 21day thing here. I don't know why he told me that but he still credited anyhow. Weird.
Thanks for pointing that out though.0 -
Possibly though. If you hold on i'm gonna recommend myself (using a different email address) to see if you are correct. Sad or what?Nicholas wrote:..Edit: I think you were lucky to get the additional 20 pounds from them. I imagine that they e-mail me to say that I have been recommended their site and invite me to join from a different link which is probably not the same as signing online? (What am I saying? I would still be signing online anyway) I'm confused.0 -
And can I just point out that any mention of referrals should be on the Referral Board :whistle:0

Should I apologise too? I know that I have been a member for a while, but it has been quite a while since I have been posting on this forum. Sorry.0 -
Well I have taken the plunge.
Amazing, isn't it? Just 7 weeks ago I was still putting up with the rip off costs of a Telewest line (the BT line at my old house was crackly and the Telewest line was superb, but I have since moved house and gone back to BT), 2p a minute in the evenings and the rip off 6p connection charge.
Now with my Orchid dialler, I will be paying no more than 2p per geographical call during the week, nothing at weekends, and much less to ring mobiles.
As for that 20 pounds credit from OneTel, I will use that for mobile calls, and 0870 and 0845 calls (if SayNoTo0870 cannot come up with an alternative).
Again thanks to bbb and edinburghlass and all the others for their advice and patience with my endless questions and thanks to Margaret (are you a Dr.?) for the moral support and encouragement the other week when I was having a few teething problems with my 18866 sign on.
I expect it won't be long before some companies will be wishing this site (and Martin MSE bless him) further because it is eating into their profits:money: :j0 -
I am leaving Onetel well I giving them an ultimatum, end of the week to give me the 1571 service which I have been asking for since end of April of I leave.
There customer service although polite are pretty well as must use as a chocolate fireguard. They tell you one thing and do another, in this case they tell me a fault is on the line, it is being rectified, there is no fault its a long of BS. Then they tell me they are looking into it, and now it will be sorted with 2 days, that was 2 weeks ago.
I am sick to death of this cowboy outfit so be warned, you pays your money and get a rubbish service.

Thanks for the advice, although a little on the late side (unless you are thinking of the 10 day cooling off period):)
From what you are saying above, it sounds like you transferred your line rental to them as you say that they are looking into a fault on your line. I, however, am only using their CPS service, so that means any line trouble and I just ring BT. I am also keeping the BT 1571 answer service. If I have any trouble with them, all I have to do is either set my dialler to dial 1280 or 18866 to override their service, and if the problem is protracted, tell BT that I want the CPS taken away from my phone number and just to be on the safe side cancel the DD at my bank.
I hope I have covered all the bases and am fully prepared, but hopefully I will have a flawless service like some others that have already posted.:j0 -
I haven't transferred line rental to them, I am still paying BT. When I went on CPS to Onetel I wasn't told by them that in order to have the 1571 service I must cancel the BT one. Only after several weeks arose when I didn't get any messages did I realise something was wrong, the BT 1571 message worked but no calls were routed.
I contacted Onetel and it was then that they told me I must cancel the BT 1571 service, which I duly did. I then contacted Ontel who told me it would take 10 working days when it took BT less than 2 hours to disconnect.
After 2 weeks I still got no 1571 service, and it was only later they told me there was a fault with the line, strange that my phone and adsl service works fine, strange that before I was with onetel that I was with Telco Global a Onetel company and teh 1571 servcie worked then.
I believe there excuses is utter bull.
