O/S Daily Saturday 14 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light, but raining and wet underfoot.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm bathed, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit, he went out last night whilst - they wanted too have a night out before we don't have a choice. Don't expect to see him for a while yet. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken pie, chips and beans for DH, I had fishcakes and a caponata with loads of veg that needed using up, another portion left. Tonight dinner will be sweet chilli chicken, veg rice and noodles.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A drab start and a drizzly day forecast.
Thanks to my self inflicted not very wellness yesterday I have the postponed Friday Tidy to do today. But first a spot of child minding. DD and eldest DGD off again looking at prom dresses and middle DGD wants to go with them to see what she is missing! Youngest has ballet so she is being left with me and her dad is coming to take her and bring her back afterwards until they return.
I went shopping in Aldi yesterday afternoon but I missed the plague of locusts. A lot of empty spaces on shelves, chillers and freezers though to prove they had been through.. I got all I wanted apart from fresh smoked haddock yet again!!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, recuperating, sad and lonely. Thinking of REDRUBY as always. Take care all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"17 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's raining here, may brighten up later. There's not a lot happening here today, I'm not expecting to see any of the family, DD and co are at their caravan, and DS and family are usually catching up at weekends, they often go running. They've been in touch to check that the"old folks" are ok. We have a family whatsapp group so that's really useful for day to day contact.I've got another bag of books for the charity shop, and I'll have a look in the cs's. That's it really.Hope everyone has a good Saturday, take care folks15

Morning All
Lovely weather yesterday but back to drizzle and grey skies this morning.
I have visitors this afternoon so have been busy cooking, need to go out for salad then I'm sorted. The visitors are from South Africa and are now working here, they've been to stay before but not for a few years, they have 2 dogs so I hope they are well behaved! They are friends of DDs too, so will have DD, her BF and baby Sophie too, quite a houseful.
I was glad to see the end of the working week, I was on my own all week and didn't manage a lunch break (although I did eat - that would have been a major disaster). That along with the panic of what we are going to do if schools close made it quite stressful at times.
Hope you are all well and have a good weekend. Take care. XX12 -
Morning all and thank you for starting off nmlc.
Very overcast here, it has rained overnight. I had hoped to get a bit done in the garden but at present all I can do is whizz outside and pull up the odd weed in between showers.
OH has gone to T*sco, will be interesting to see what he has been able to get and what things are unavailable. We can manage mostly but if we end up self-isolating it will be more difficult. Not impossible though.
House in dire need of a good bottoming and my motivation has hit rock-bottom.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Morning ,
Weather a bit dull looking , so not sure how the washing will be dried yet.
It is party day - my friends 60th. I am going with another friend it is a a themed party. Retro 70's , 80's
I am wearing my rock n roll red dress with one of those frilly underskirts that make the dress enlarge. As I love rock n roll music and my favourite band is Showaddywaddy. I wore the dress to there 40th anniversary gig. The dress has only been worn once to that gig, so I am being mse in not buying anything new.
I never go out much in the evenings so hopefully will be able to stay awake past 9pm
Have a good Saturday everyone

How much, Nelski? That's ridiculous. I need to buy some milk and bread today but that's about it, freezer and store cupboards are stocked but not excessively so. I'll be glad to get out of the house because I haven't left it since Tuesday but I'll be keeping my distance from other people.
Apart from that it will be another quiet day. Chris might pop in later because he has had to go into work. he's a supply chain manager for one of the German supermarkets so as you can imagine he's had a very stressful week and it's likely to continue.

Morning all! What is this time I see before me? It's bloody early o clock! Again, sun is shining...We appear to have a real stray cat hanging around, a big fluffy grey thing with white paws and worried eyes [Anthropormorphising? Moi?] . It slept under the car last night and has been hanging about for a few weeks. I'm imagining all sorts of stories for it, and I would like to know if it's chipped so I am probably going to attempt to persuade it into a carrier to get scanned. Might take a few weeks. It's very timid, and very very hungry. Not your normal, I come to you for treats face, but 'if you don't give me something edible I'm going to pass out' It was stealing fox food last week and seeing as that was the shoulder of lamb bone, it was definitely taking on more than it could chew. Not much to report, watched the pottery thrown downs I'd missed [ 3!] and fell in love with that massive stripey teapot with a gold crown they had on the table in front of them on the last episode. Cue much googling to try and find a real one, no luck...OK, off I go for another cuppa, and must find the source of the rotting oniony smell I've been smelling for last couple of days in the lean to. It's really driving me a bit nuts now because I can't find anything [ besides real onions and garlic] that it could be....Sorry Nelski, I think I was reading Thursday yesterday and Friday together, hence confusion...But ahh...I see you wrestled successfully with your duvet cover, watch out, TA will be after you to do hers...:) Ruby...thinking of you. Nanny, hope you slept...Hey all reading along, Surreptitious Saturday....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Good morning
Life goes on as normal here. Trip to a garden centre yesterday and plenty of people there, mostly with hair same colour as mine ( grey!). No panic buying of pansies either.
DS had to go to a meeting in London yesterday. Virtually empty trains and sent a photo of a deserted street in the City. At least there was no one around to catch anything from!
Red Ruby - hope your scan results were good news.
Nelski - you sound so much like your old self. Wonder if those people were buying up to resell at inflated prices. If so I hope they can't sell anything!
Gers - I don't like the sound of the chemicals making the men ill. It will be a good thing when it's done!
Happy Saturday everyone

Morning all.
Nelski, the whole world has gone mad. I stood behind a woman in T*sc* yesterday with a massive trolleyful. It took her ages to get through the checkout. I tried to see what her bill came to but couldn't quite make it out. The cashier said quietly to me, "A few pounds under 300." I think when this crisis is over the shops are going to be very quiet, no one will need anything for weeks.
Today I am off to a neighbouring village where the little church is holding a lunch to raise funds for a good cause. I haven't heard that it has been cancelled so will go along and do my bit. Perhaps we are being a bit gung-ho in this neck of the woods but until last night we only had one case of the plague, not increased for the last week, so fingers crossed.
I went mad yesterday, so only some ironing to do today, and that's the one job I don't mind. The ironing board, me and the radio makes for a happy hour.
I know. Weird.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.14
