Let's see a photo of these corroded discs...1

calicocat said:Yes, I am aware of this, so are they. That doesn’t stop the fact that they have sold a car with a known problem, bad practice at best.1

calicocat said:Have spoken to Fiat, they are so far agreeing with me it seems. So will see what happens. Got the impression they have had more than just my complaint about the garage in Question. Pretty impressed with Fiat coming back straight away to be honest, regardless of whatever the outcome is.Plus they are in the middle of the crisis and chaos over there and still amazingly quick at responding . They are all working from home though I think.

Mate phoned them for me whilst I was at his, it appears you automatically get put through to Italy....??. You would think they had a team over here dealing with things, but someone else said they got put through to Italy too.
It was also someone in Milan who rang me back regarding an email.
will photograph the discs tomorrow for you, as I have no idea if they are bad, I am simply going off the last service report, and the garage saying they need doing.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
You're still missing the point. You purchased a used vehicle with consumable parts that would've had some exiting wear to a lesser or greater extent and at some point these parts would need to be replaced. This is the normal part of car ownership. When you buy a used car do you expect the tyres to be brand new as well?
The dealer didn't sell you a faulty car and therefore is not responsible. The time to read through and check the car's history was at the time your bought it not 7 months later.0 -
I know that . My point is that the garage highlighted that there was a problem, put it as needing attention, didn’t fix this later when they bought the car from previous owner and sold it on knowing. Not in my book good practice.
I am not missing your point at all.
Anyhow, will send photo and see if you think they are corroded, or the garage is lying, again, and they are fine.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Most cars on the road have more severely corroded brake discs than that. They noted that they were corroded I believe and not that they were unroadworthy or illegal.
Hoping that you get something to resolve your issue but in my humble opinion there is nothing out of order here.
*edit... I think they only originally commented that they were corroded to try to get the original owner to pay them to change the discs when in reality there was nothing wrong with them1 -

They will tell me what needs doing and doesn’t. And the car will be nearly out of warranty so won’t make any difference re that hopefully. Part of the issue was having to get them to look at things under warranty and I know they are lying.Regardless I will not use that garage ever again . If Fiat come back saying I am right I still wouldn’t have them do the work now, if they want to settle with who I am going to fine, but it isn’t Fiats fault, it’s the garage lying and playing games. I would rather that be noted to be honest .
I’m not a numptie and know when I am being lied to, and in over 37 yrs of buying cars since 17 ever had a problem with buying a car before, or any garage .As I know you will all be wetting your pants to know the outcome I will let you know in due course😂.
Thanks for replies though.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
TBH, I've seen surface corrosion of that type on cars less than month old. There really is nothing at all to be concerned about there. The very fact is was mentioned in a service report was simply for something for the customer to be aware off, and as suggested possibly a ploy to get some more money out of them. I'd wait until you have your MOT and see what comes from that.1
