I've recently moved to using a laptop so I can work from home.  The problem is that TalkTalk do not allow VPN access I have discovered.  All my other colleagues who are on other ISPs like Sky or BT have no trouble at all.  Can I cancel my contract early without extra charges as they are not providing a service up to standard?

Some posts on TalkTalk forum suggest that they don't intentionally block VPNs but their router can be problematic. Have you tried their technical support, or tried replacing the modem with a generic one ?

You would need to ask TT re cancelling as they are providing a service up to standard .Unless you can actually point to this standard that says ISP must allow VPN .1

you have a consumer connection/contract with them. The wont allow you to cancel (or offer support) for connection to a business or for business use.0

I think most ISPs make a distinction between occasional working from home and business use. I would think given the corona virus they will be strongly encouraged to support working from home. The main thing most business accounts offer is suitable invoicing an SLA and priority support

Try changing the DNS. Using Cloudflare now instead of Google and find web pages open
more quickly and some sites that gave me an error now work without issues.

            Try disabling HomeSafe.
But as already suggested, it is more likely to be an issue with the TalkTalk router not supporting the VPN protocol you need to use if changing DNS does not fix the problem.
Suggest posting your problem on TalkTalk forum and quote what VPN software and TalkTalk router you are using. They may have a solution which doesn't require you to buy a new 3rd party modem-router if you have ADSL or FTTC fibre broadband from TalkTalk.0

I have Talk Talk and I have never had an issue with VPN - neither when I used to use their router, nor now that I use mine. I must have used some 5 or 6 VPN providers in this time, from work VPNs to VPNs for private use.0
