Loud Music from school, what are the rules?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, I didn't know where else to post!
Almost every lunchtime (unless wet play) a nearby school plays very loud music for an hour. I can hear the songs from inside my house. This started about a year ago.
It is affecting my health (very bad health so I sometimes need to rest in the day)
My husbands sleep (shift work)
When son was on study leave it affected his revision scedule. Both my teens have study leaving coming up.
I've tried wearing ear defenders but they hurt my head, I can't have the windows open, and I can still hear it with them shut anyway. I am dreading the summer.
The local council say they they work with "outdated law" that says it's only how it would affect a "typical 9-5 worker". Which makes me feel discriminated against.
this also means it will affect which careers my teenagers can take if they cant do shift work (one wants to be a police officer) I've tried talking to the school but they are not interested. Imagine if I started playing loud music during their exam periods?
I've tried looking at the law but I can't understand it.
Please can anyone offer any advice as it's really getting me down :-(

Why would you be dreading summer when school is closed?
How close do you actually live from the school? Where is the music actually coming from inside the school or outside in the playground. What are they doing putting music over some kind of loud speaker for the whole school to listen to on lunch?2 -
Have you invited the Headteacher and the Chair of Governors to come into your house while the music is playing and see if they think the noise level is reasonable?

How long have you lived next to the school - or how long has the school been there if you lived there first. If the school were there before you moved in, did you not expect noise from the school?5

How very annoying but seriously, it won't affect what careers your children choose.
if one becomes a police officer would they not be moving out anyhow? It would be so silly to rule out a career over something like this.
have you approached the school personally and what has their response been?
perhaps invite the head round during the noise disturbance.Norn Iron Club member 4734 -

The question of how long the OP has lived there is not relevant as it is no defence to a claim of nuisance that someone "came to the nuisance" (see Coventry and others v Lawrence [2014] UKSC 13 and Sturges v Bridgman (1879) LR 11 Ch D 852 )Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Have other neighbours complained?
What music is it? Are we talking Ed Sheeran or religious?
What school?
Contact them whilst it’s happening or go round.
I work in a school there’s no way I would want to add extra noise to the noise of a school .
If it’s loud for you it must be crazy loud for the staff and childrenLife is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.1 -
Write to the school and calmly explain the situation. Invite the head teacher to come to your home and experience how loud the music is. Do you have neighbours? If they also highlight it that could help. However is it really that loud? For example I'm autistic and even low level noise really irritates me! Could you have just started to fixate on the noise? Just thinking if it's that loud would it not be harmful for the kids actually inside the building? If the school doesn't take it seriously then inform the local authority.2

a "nearby" school suggests there is some distance. I struggle to believe it can be anywhere near as bad as OP is claiming8

I used to live at the back of a school playing field, some distance from the school itself. They had some sort of tannoy system and it was often easier to hear the announcements in my house than on the school playground and field. Rubbish sound system?1
