Renovation forum?

Does anyone use any forums specifically for renovating houses? We are completing next week on a very neglected Edwardian semi that needs a lot of work and a full renovation really. I have had no luck finding forums where others are doing the same and give advice and support! It’s the biggest project we’ve ever done and the whole concept of renovating in a way that doesn’t cause more issues is new to us, so no doubt we’ll have many questions!

We have an In My Home board here with building nerds like me.

    There's Buildhub too.

There's also a massive renovation community on Instagram that you could get involved with.    There's a couple self-building their own home here https://www.instagram.com/theoldscrapyard/
They've been quiet since before Xmas (waiting for house sale to free up money) but you can look at who they follow and who is following them for ideas on who to follow yourself.  There's a few hashtags that create community.  #mydailyrenovation being one amongst many.  It's nice to see exactly what people are up to.

Those two are just crazy (or mad depending on viewpoint).... :p
Very nice build though, and a lot of attention is being paid to the details. It's going to be a lovely family home when done.

For an Edwardian property, there is always the Period Property Forum - The folks over there have homes from as late as the 1930s and going back 400+ years. A great store of knowledge on just about all vernacular building techniques as well as modern problems such as listed building consent & stuff.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I dunno... dodge looking couple that - I mean, the woman looks sensible enough, but that bloke...  :#
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

House Bought July 2020 - 19 years 0 months remaining on term
Next Step: Bathroom renovation booked for January 2021
Goal: Keep the bigger picture in mind...
  • Fantastic, exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks guys.

My memory is working this morning, so I looked and this is still live, though I haven't assessed if it's kicking or not.....Might be worth a look.
