Lux ac battery controller

Hi!,

I've just spent some time reading over this thread and all the really useful info in it! I've been looking at getting a Lux AC with 3 x 2.4 Pylontech batteries. I've been quoted around £4,700 (inc vat) for the installation which, from some of the comments on this thread seems pretty high? 

It'd be great if anyone has any recommendations for installers who serve the Dundee/Angus area as I'd love to get some additional quotes  

I'm also wondering how people are finding the app/website? Some of the comments from the beginning of the year seems to indicate that things were getting worse (missing settings) rather than better.

You should be able to get Pylontechs for around £800 each, maybe a bit less if you shop around/haggle. Having said that, current worldwide shortages in supply might be having an impact on prices. Add that to around £700 for a Lux controller and your looking at around £3k for the hardware so I would say £4700 is taking the mick somewhat.

We had our Lux installed by a guy recommended by our supplier, Think Renewables, although the company seem to change their name from one week to the next. I believe they're now known as Home Energy Group. 
Installation is pretty straight forward for a qualified spark, especially one with experience in inverters. Shouldn't normally take much more than an hour.

About the app/website, I wouldn't worry too much about comments re missing settings as the grid settings that were previously available on the web portal are still on the app when connected directly to the Lux. You probably won't ever need to touch these settings anyway once your installer has everything dialled in.

I checked the home energy group website and their similar setup is £4,750 fully installed with the Aobo Uhome batteries which I've read are much more expensive than Pylontech - https://homeenergygroup.co.uk/product/quantum-plus-ac-7-2kw-battery-storage-system-copy/ - so hopefully if they still do Pylontech 

I've reached out to Home Energy Group and I hope they can provide a quote or some guidance.

We just bought the Lux inverter from them and got the batteries on ebay.
I managed to get one seller down to £1400 for 2 x 2.4kwh modules and added a 3rd one (which was used) for £600.

Eco renewables did my install, at the time they were very reasonably priced and I'm happy with the system

Be careful with uhome. It is a closed market. There are limited suppliers and they all speak to each other. They will not sell you a battery if you have bought from another. I spoke to ICO about it abs they deemed that it was unacceptable for a company to call another and ask if you were a customer of theirs. They should not be giving your data to others

Try to get the Pylontech batteries, they're functionally equivalent but aren't interchangeable. If you decide you want more batteries in the future, adding Pylontechs is much simpler.

@FaradayEV is looking for extra Aoboet batteries, they might be interersted to ehar that Home energy Group can supply them:

I'd agree with EVandPV,  buy the inverter from one of the names of think renewables and then get pylontech batteries from elsewhere, wiring is very simple, so shouldn't cost much from a local spark if you don't want to diy.

Be aware think renewables and their many names now push the uhome batteries. Imo the pylontech are a better and cheaper buy

Hello all

I have recently had an LuxPower 3.6kW hybrid inverter installed along PV and 7.2kWh of Aoeboet UHome batteries (three 2.4kWh units).  I know this thread relates to the AC coupled inverter but I hope the software is sufficiently similar that you can offer some advice for me please.

The reported battery SOC seems to be a bit random - just boiling the kettle can cause the SOC to drop by 10% at times and yet the battery will continue to charge from solar for hours after the SOC reaches 99%.  Could anyone confirm whether the BatCapacity of 129 in the configuration section sounds right for 7.2kWh (6.6kWh usable) please?



I had to shut down the system briefly not long after it was installed, and the installer's instructions for startup had me turn the batteries back on after the inverter was running with the PV connected.  This lead to a "Battery Plug In?" message on the inverter LCD and I wasn't sure if I had confused it as to what type and/or capacity of batteries I have connected.

Helpfully the printed manual for the inverter has a printing error that means the section that should show the battery setting options is completely blank!  I did not want to start pressing buttons and either damage something or cause it to stop working correctly.

The Batcapacity field refers to the total ah of your battery stack. We also have a total of 7.2kwh although Pylontech batteries and each of the 3 modules is 50ah so our Batcapacity field shows 150.
