Afternoon allThank you all for your kindness, hugs and cwtches, they are all now stored in my special box of emergencies ( along with the toilet rolls
). My head is still spinning and silly me offered to meet Dad in Morries this morning to get him a stock up of shopping. We took our 4x4 as he only has a small car and his scooter is in the boot of that. Anyway he spent the total of £12 GRR ! I explained again about not to keep shopping everyday but he won't listen. Apparently he will not get this virus as he's taking an extra anti B's 4 times a week, plus he lived through the war. I can't tell you how annoyed I was- and still am with him. I can't help him any more if he won't listen. Sorry if I sound harsh but I'm afraid he may infect others too if he gets it. He's not dull either, just obstinate.DD is home from work today too with our DGS, as he has a cough and he also had a kick in the head while swimming last night. DD gets how serious this can be if her Dad gets it, let alone me.TA I hope you have a very Happy Birthday.Right I'm going to have a tidy round and try to get down off the ceiling.Hope everyone is ok and stays safe and well.Love to allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
I realise that they are very cheap, just difficult to source just now. Pharmacies have a different supply for dispensing than available on the shelves. Last winter I wanted to buy some and my local pharmacist asked me to have them dispensed via Minor Injuries as they had more, retail supply was short then.snoozer said:Gers, if RR doesn't qualify for fre prescriptions it's cheaper by a long way to buy over the counter in England.
At least you get some! I'm sure that others here would be happy to help if need be. xxRedRuby1231 said:Thanks for the offer Monnagran if I get stuck I will take you up on that ! xx
Gers the hospital will send me home with a few days pain killers but after that its up to me to provide them they have said to take paracetamol and ibuprofin alternately every two hours and not to miss a dose so its wise to stock up and cheaper withput a prescription xx

RR if you can get to a Lidl, if they have any supplies of paracetamol and ibuprofen you may find you can buy two of each at the same time. You can in my local one, everywhere else is just one of each.5

I don't know if this'll help or not considering I didn't have an immediate reconstruction and depnding on which option you go for, but the mastectomy was by far not as painful as I thought it was going to be. Because boobs are basically fat bags, no muscles were sliced into so nothing invasive [in the sense that no internal organs/muscles etc were touched] it was a whole lot better than I thought it was going to be. I still managed to dress myself, very slowly of course, afterwards. I found the biggest problem were the drains, beause they are held in with a stitch, I remember turning awkwardly on the sofa one night and waking up screaming, because I'd trapped the drain tube and was pulling it out but that was the worst that ever was really. Then I learned that taping down the tubing a bit further away from the stitch stopped that happening again. Maybe put some surgical tape on your shopping list. Taping also helps when you accidentally stand on the tube...:) I also taped the neck of the bottle where the drain exited into it because \i found it could work loose and lose vacuum [happened twice, and probbly down to me moving it about] . But I just used electrician tape for that. Also, in Boots, you can get 400mg ibuprofen by asking at the counter. You can get big packs..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

Thanks Taff the surgeon did say to me that the pain from a mastectomy is bearable, although they are moving a muscle forward slightly if I go for the implants and he said this would cause pain, also he said they are taking lymph nodes from each armpit and this will cause more pain, he said a lot of ladies find this really painful. I am allergic to plasters and tape and dressings so they said they would give me some special non allergic ones I will ask them for some spares and some tape, thank you xx-taff said:I don't know if this'll help or not considering I didn't have an immediate reconstruction and depnding on which option you go for, but the mastectomy was by far not as painful as I thought it was going to be.
