Morning, quick one from me so I can wash my hair before the sm delivery then I look presentable enough to go out with my friend
DGS dropped off at school in good time,I was panicking a bit yesterday when we went to pick him up, the traffic was awful and being held up by some temporary lights, then just as we approached them a workman switched them off and walked off! Made it by the skin of our teeth, phew.
Lovely sunny morning, windy though.Nan, sorry DH count is rising but the consultant sounds fairly upbeat if he doesnt want to see him for 4 mths.Right better go, good days all xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all.
Late start as I was really tired last night and couldn't get off to sleep. Finally managed it by about 3.00am and woke up again just after 9. The joys of retirement when the alarm doesn't go off at 6.
Dumpling, I bet you are a lovely Grandma. You are right, Grannies are very special people, especially good at leaving wonderful memories.
TA, 74? You are nothing but a spring chicken. Enjoy every minute of your day.
ScarletRibbons, well done with the clearing out. I am doing the same but only seem to succeed in moving stuff from one room to another. Waiting for someone with a car to take things away. One disadvantage of not driving any more. You will love your empty spaces.
Bella, you are so wise to know when to step back. I think this is something left out of most parenting books. They are very good at telling you what to do, not so good at telling you when to shut up and not interfere, which is just as important. I'm sure that it will all sort itself out over time, things have a habit of doing that, but that's no help now, is it?
Nelski, crumbs! I bet it took longer to get to the hospital than the time spent with the great one. As you said, Oh for a job like that. I bet he earned more for those couple of minutes than you would earn in a week of slogging. Life is so unfair!
RR, if you ever run out of paracetamol just sing out. I have a little stash and I don't know why because I take about one a year when I have my annual headache. I mean it. If you ever need any, post about it and I bet you will be inundated. In the meantime lots of loving thoughts and prayers will be coming your way.
Happycas, you are right, this will all pass. It may pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. We just have to get through it as best we can.
As for me, I have the curtain suppliers coming tomorrow to measure the windows so I must make sure that they can actually get to the windows. Each room is like an obstacle course just now. I suppose I will get straight at some point, but the finishing post keeps moving into the far distance.

Morning all form mehefinland
Blowing a gale ( again ) and vicious hail showers. Ground had 2 days drying out and now its back to a swamp again. The hippos are not happy - they don't like the wind. Scooby has yet another abscess so that's another load of poulticing.
Laggan had a mild colic after her tea the other evening, but we wormed the lot of them on Sunday so it was probably a side effect from that. She bounced back with in the hour so no vet call out this time.Phew!!
DS made the royal visit for Mrs M's burpday . Toxic Troll was very quiet - perhaps she's sickening for something! A bit strained but got through it.
Bella - good on you to stand back ,but a plan B is better than no plan imo. A compromise needed. Must be so upsetting to see all you plans go down the Swanee.
Nanny - sending you a special cwtch.
Hugs and spoons as always

morning all! Today is sunny and coldcoldcold! So the fire is going on a minute. Did my roast chicken and potatoes, and a miracle, didn't make too many roast potatoes for a change! And also discovered that after my abortive attempt to use the sage and onion stuffing mix in dumplings, a few spoonfuls in the gravy made a very welcome difference...I also made focaccia because the oven was on and the flour should have been used in December, but it was fine and didn't have that awful cupboardy taste that it can have when it goes off. I was lucily chewing that [tying it out - very nice, nice open crumb structure a PHollywood would say] when I answered the door this monring to a pair of Jehovas, who left pretty quickly out of politeness because they thought I was having my breakfast. Saved me disappointing them by saying not interested thank you and shutting the door. I only opened it to be fair because I thought it might be my lost delivery...OHs mams for tea, not literally, that was a bit eats, shoots and leaves wasn't it? We're having toad in the hole for her to try out her new spangly kitchen ovens...And OH may not be going away as Corvid-9 may force a shut down of a bunch of nerds meeting up to play war games...I may have spent a bit too much in the garden center yesterday but bought a quite large shrub for the garden, the front garden though..[we're not supposed to be doing the back garden till building work is done] and got my compost and a couple of little things, a couple of lambs ear, a couple of something I've totally forgotten the name of, and a rose, also for the front garden...oh, and some little bursts of colour bedding plant [ just one pack of six..] All these things are still in my boot and they have to come out sharpish before the sun causes masses of condensation...The garden center is a locally run one too so doesn't have the massive price hikes of dobbies for example.Nelski, write down what he tells you so you can go over it again, if he's helping you. I find unless I do that it goes in one ear and out the other....Nanny, sort of OK ish news if he doesn't want to see him for another 4 months, time bomb living is not for the faint hearted...hugs...TA Happy Birthday! [ pretend you are seeing emoticons of cake and wine and presents!
] dumpling, does that mean you are now Mrs Doubtfire?
Monna, get your rellies on the case! Let them help, they probably do want to or if they don't I'm sure you can persuade them they do, which is practicing the know when to say something, know when not to
Hey all reading along, hope you're OK...Tempestuous Thursday!

Oh, I remember, a couple of those bluey thistles things, like a teasel shape, but different colour...Although I am wondering about them because the leaves are normal green leaves with no hine of anyting different about them....

Back again after a short excursion to pick up meds for DM - there's a very nasty bitter wind here. Came back to find the builders bringing up huge planks of floorboarding through the window. The planks are too long to get up the stairs, boy was I glad when they closed the window. There's an awful lot of hammering and sawing and other noisy stuff happening. I'll post a photo later.LATER:REDRUBY - surely your GP and/or hospital will prescribe painkillers for after your op? Or has paracetamol been de-listed in England?DUMPLING - I can still 'see' my maternal grandmother teaching me to embroider and knit whenever she came across to visit. She also was very patient in showing me how to strip blackcurrants from their stems. Grannies are very special, I bet Grandads are too though I never knew either of mine.

Gers, if RR doesn't qualify for fre prescriptions it's cheaper by a long way to buy over the counter in England.8

Thanks for the offer Monnagran if I get stuck I will take you up on that ! xx
Gers the hospital will send me home with a few days pain killers but after that its up to me to provide them they have said to take paracetamol and ibuprofin alternately every two hours and not to miss a dose so its wise to stock up and cheaper withput a prescription xx10
