O/S Daily Thursday 12 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm bath, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Now light, mild but blustery wind again during the night and forecast for the day.
Dinner last night was mixed herbs chicken, hot new potatoes, pork pie, scotch egg, ham, and side salad - several of those bits were needing to be used up. Not sure what we'll be having tonight but will sort whilst out today. I'll be trying to get done what I can at my pace.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
It sounds like I am on holiday as the seagulls are squawking away outside and it always reminds me of going to the seaside when I was a little girl. It is a bit windy but dry and hopefully it is going to be another nice day.
I am just waiting for my grandson to arrive as he is going to stay here for an hour or so before school. I had him and his sister come over yesterday evening and they were so well behaved it was a joy to look after them. I don't think their home life is particularly happy as their stepdad is quite controlling and very grumpy so I love to make their time here as good as possible. I have very fond memories of my grandma as I grew up in very similar circumstances and she would always encourage me and my sisters to put on little shows for her. She taught me lots of card games and how to gamble with hard boiled sweets as the stakesI think grandma's should be very special and valued members of the family and I know that lots of you on here are too.
My lovely friend came to see me yesterday and it was so nice to sit and chat. I think today is going to be quieter but we need to catch up on some washing and general housework so that won't be a bad thing. I am going to make creamy garlic chicken for dinner with rice and leeks and tomorrow Steve wants a Chinese takeaway so that will be easy.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Blustery here also and light overnight snow. Will winter ever end!
My birthday today. Eeek 74 how did that happen! I'm sure I was 21 yesterday! Just been opening some cards and presents. some lovely things already. Birthday treat from DD to follow - we are off on the train to Leeds for 2 course lunch and fizz - she has booked for Angelica at 1.30. Never been there before but she says it's top floor of Trinity with views over the rooftops of Leeds. Then later back at her house for pizzas with the girls! After 3 days of gluttony the sensible eating plan will be resurrected tomorrow!
Yesterday's bus trip was reduced to 2 of us as the 3rd rang in sick. We are hoping it's not more than that. You hear someone cough these days and all the people nearby go in a panic. We ended up going to Skipton but did more browsing than actual buying! Lovely lunch (and wine) followed before heading for the bus home. It was quite busy everywhere so we assume the coach trippers were out in force!
Have a good day all if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. RR thinking of you as always. BELLA I hope plan B is now well underway. I can;t imagine how your DD must be feeling with her plans in tatters. NAN a special hug xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Good morning and thanks for starting Dumpling, Pleased that you had a nice day with your friend yesterdayIt's sunny and dry here, but i don't know for how long, we'll see. I managed to get a bit of washing nearly dry yesterday before the rain came.I wasn't out yesterday, but I did some kitchen cupboard sorting and rearranging. There's now even more for the charity shop - in the back of a cupboard I found a 30cm square cake tin, don't think I'll be using that again, and a big stainless steel stockpot, that's going as well. I don't cook on that scale anymore. Also I've rearranged my card making things, and Dh is clearing out some of his stuff, it's all happening here.I must go out today, my books are due back at the library and I thought I'd buy some of those part baked rolls, if you can still get them, I thought they might come in handy. I'm sure Dd said she'd bought some at A*ldi. There's a pile of ironing growing nicely, I'll tackle that as well. Well I'll try!Thinking of the sad and poorly today.Have a good Thursday folks14

Morning
Gorgeous day here but pretty chilli. Doing my bedding today in two stages....sheets and pillow cases in now then duvet cover tomorrow ...everything takes hours more now. Hospital appointment was rapid shall we say re the BP he waved me off and said the GP will deal with thatHe didn't do anything at all really bar to tell me to come back in 2 months...def want his job and no bedside manner required.
No appointments at the moment today so will crack on with the house ...its tidier than its ever been! Thinking my re entry into the workforce in April (7th) will now be cancelled as I doubt training will be a priority for people. Bad for the cash flow but I guess its a bit longer to get really well...anyway nothing I can do. No sign of my terrorist either which is frustrating as I was improving quicker with his advice.
TA happy birthday...sounds like a lovely day planned
Bella glad its all getting sorted out
have a lovely day all14 -
Another sunny day, though there was a lot of wind and rain last night.
I'm meeting a friend for coffee this afternoon. Not seen her for ages with one thing and another so it will be good to catch up. Found myself wondering if we should go, because of all the social distancing talk, but decided to anyway. Don't know if it's silly to go out or silly to stay indoors!! I guess this too will pass, but not without a lot of song and dance first!
Nelski - I think a lot of companies will be cancelling things they don't deem highly essential. Worrying for your cash flow though. Don't like the sound of your consultant. I hope your GP is a bit more user friendly
Red Ruby - what a terribly difficult decision for you to make. I hope you can settle on one you feel comfortable with.
TA - Happy Birthday. Enjoy your trip to Leeds. My home town until I was 18 and it still feels like home when I go back.
Happy sunny Thursday everyone

Up with the lark, well almost!! OH has a 9.30 appointment with the physio, hoping to be discharged, he can always go back if he needs to. We are then going to brave Aldi, mostly emergency tinned stuff, I have an order coming from Morrison next week, so no Aldi then. In prep for having to isolate. We are both in the vulnerable catagory, both have heart problems, OH is certain sure he will be one of 'the ones'. I keep telling him what will be will be, and there is nowt we can do about it except be vigilant. We use disposable gloves and bin them in a plastic bag, OH pushes the trolley, I pick off the shelves, no toilet paper needed here, bag of 24 bought a few weeks ago before coronavirus reared its head. We use kitchen roll as handkies, they are a bit stronger then loo paper. Need veg and salad stuff, will get a bag of frozen mixed veg in as well.
Fine morning, towels in the washer, should dry outside, the sheet and duvet cover dried ok, so no need to iron, will just rub the iron over the pillow cases later.
Frittata and salad tonight, still have not eaten the sponge pudds, they will have to be eaten soon.10 -
Morning ,
Nice and sunny outside but it feels colder today. After work I have a friend popping round to visit me. She is coming to show me the earrings she has bought as a joint present from both of us to another friend, whose 60th party we are going to on Saturday night. Also see what outfit she is wearing as it is a themed dress party.
Tea tonight is jacket potatoes.
Happy Birthday @TravellingAbuela
