Terms state maximum 1 sole of new account type plus 1 Joint
Might have grandfathered rights on multiples0 -

Aim I would have thought is to reduce overall rewards paid out

This bit seems odd:
They'll pay the £5 net if you generate it with £5,000 (£6.25 gross) but it doesn't say that if you generate it with a £500 debit card payment.0 -
Has anyone else had this message?Went in to my Halifax account and saw no mention of it.0

It will come through, I received mine today. We have to let Halifax know by 15th of May, so still plenty of time for you to receive the message.

Would there be anyway to make the £500 a month transfer from debit card to saving account automated every month similar to a standing order instead of having to do it manually?0

When you phone them up on the 0345 number it’s an automated service. You input your account number and sort code and then it asks you to proceed. It also asks you how are you are going to qualify for your monthly reward and you have to choose either the £500 debit card spend or the £5000 balance. It doesn’t look like you can choose both and qualify by either method in any month. You then go to choose your desired reward. I went for the fivers5

I think I will personally let the account move to the fee free version and see how you guys get on with debit card payments to savings accounts. Given the fact that Halifax has stated that some transactions will not count for the £500 debit card spend, it would be no surprise to me if only actual purchases counted towards it and not card transactions to other banks / societies / investments. I will wait and see how you guys find it as I'd rather not find myself in the position of either then having to either pay the £3 fee or forced to keep 5k in it to avoid it when I am literally moving house in the next 6 weeks, so that would not be ideal. I say that, but at the moment I am moving, given the economic situation right now, that could still fall apart as I work for a small company that relies on both trade and supply chain from the EU and my boss is already feeling the pressure and work has slowed up this week and we've not even started the epidemic over here yet.
