  • Thanks for the confirmation that I would get a good return on my Reward a/c by leaving £5000 in there on a permanent basis. I think I'm more worried about the security aspect of this, which is what I meant when I said that in the past that was always thought to be a bad idea. e.g. if my a/c or debit card is hacked/cloned how quickly would the bank normally respond?

So we're all getting different numbers then.
Probably connect to the same thing though i guess.

Leave the card at home, use another account for daily spends.

Different phone numbers are used for tracking and marketing services. Many banks utilise this form of intelligence/data gathering.
Some banks will show a different contact number on a website each and every time you click on the page.

Then again it could be just that each number has a finite number of calls it can handle at any one time, therefore they issue multiple numbers.

Where else would you keep your money for it to be safer ? Under the pillow, under the mattress, in your freezer, in your washing machine, freshly laundered of course?
    What security aspect?

Made the fully automated call today - strange that they didn`t ask for any security information. Decided on the £500 per month debit card payment option. Will fund our x-o Isa`s for the first few months using the debit card. There was no mention of choosing a start date so why was that mentioned in their information. We will cancel the monthly £750 in/out standing orders and the PO DD`s at the end of May and set up the new monthly £1500 in/out standing orders in June.

It would be easier to have £2000 monthly standing order going in and £1500 back two days later and then the £500 would be there to make the £500 monthly debit card payment on the first month and £505 on subsequent months to skim the £5 reward.

Thank you. That's a much more positive suggestion than your earlier comments.

Thank you. I think we may have an age-gap problem here. I may be a senior person but I am not yet senile. A younger relative who is extremely competent & moneywise  has TWICE had her bank account hacked and all her money taken. It took 6 weeks for the bank to sort this out and give access to a new bank account. Hence my concerns about security.

Having your bank account hacked, and all your money taken, once is unfortunate. Having this happen twice to the same person is extremely incompetent.
