Morning all and thank you for starting us off ILC.
It is a lovely bright morning so instead of doing anything constructive I am watching the birds and this is stopping me noticing that the floor needs cleaning.
At home until mid-afternoon then I need to go out and work. Slightly worried about germy buses. I've just spotted that OH has bought cold and flu medicine, apart from lots of handwashing, and I'm a mad handwasher anyway, that's our virus prep done. We don't stockpile but we do like to keep enough stuff in to see us through a few weeks and we were low on looroll (this is after last year's bogmageddon when he somehow lost count and at one point we had 139 rolls) so that went on his list. He couldn't get the one we normally use but the supermarket had lots of other ones so he came back with some that has puppies embossed into it, now I'm a bit conflicted about using it.
I made dahl yesterday, OH made curry and I asked him to just heat the dahl at the last minute. Little did I know that he would heat it to lava temperature and now I've got blisters on the roof of my mouth.
I hope everyone has a good day, thinking of those struggling with things.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Nelski, that's a nice idea or you could get tickets to the theatre if that i s their thing perhapsI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11

Bella, your daughter's wedding will be beautiful. I hope they manage to get their refund - surely TUI should follow the Govt guidelines.
TA, I remember my leaver's disco (proms not being a thing) was in the mid-70's so long (maxi) dresses were the thing. Mum got me a beautiful blue dress from a colleagues catalogue - none of them believed I would fit in it but I did, I was such a skinny minny. I then wore it at several university balls and other occasions and it eventually ended it's life being turned into Roman costume for Laura for a school thing.
Sue went yesterday, we dropped her off and then went shopping in case we end up isolated. Didn't go too mad, we got frozen veggies and a few cans of beans and tomatoes etc. A big pack of mince to turn into bolognaise and chilli etc and some long life milk (yuk). No toilet roll or rice and only one packet of pasta! Hopefully that will last us the rest of the month and beyond if need be.
I was supposed to go to a pre-diabetes health group today but I have called and cancelled because it didn't seem sensible to go to a group meeting atm. Steve is immune-suppressed because of his treatment so I would never forgive myself if I brought any infection back. I had just crept into the lowest category of at risk for diabetes so they asked me to go on one of these courses but tbh I know all the theory, it's just the willpower that is missing with regard to the things I need to not eat etc.12 -
Good morning folks.BELLA - my heart goes out to your family, such a disaster. The emergency arrangements which have been started sound a really good substitute with the promise of a good old party sometime later.REDRUBY - what an vision you conjured up there. 😱 A decision will come to you.TA - such lovely cafe staff deserve new jobs.NELSKI - afternoon tea voucher perhaps. I know that the lovely Camelot hates afternoon tea, I really enjoy the joys of mini-yummy-things.The builders are back. They seem to be on the 'putting things back together' phase. Huge boards have been brought in, something to do with 'damping sound'. One chap is still debilitated by an infection in his knee cartilage so he's supervising.I hope that everyone is coping. Happy Wednesday to all.12

Sunny morning, feels warmish through the glass, bet its colder out.
Stripped the bed and its in the washer, should dry on the line. Cleaner due so she will help me put the duvet cover etc on.
OH has an appointment at the physio tomorrow, will go on to Aldi for some bits to see me through, will get some pasta as well as a few other bits. Mostly tinned stuff, the freezer is full. The fridge is going the same way.
I have 2 newish pairs of Clarks shoes both worn only twice, I am thinking of putting them on Ebay, I also have a cashmere and wool coat I doubt I will ever wear it again. Not too sure what to ask for them, the coat was very expensive so do not want to sell it for buttons, its made by Dannimac.
Pork casserole tonight with veggies. Did not have the sponge puddings so will maybe have them tonight.

Morning all.
TA, my blood ran cold at the thought of paying all that money for a dress that may only see the light of day, or evening, once. A bit like paying thousands for a wedding dress that will be worn for a few hours, inspected in photos for a few weeks and sniggered at for years by ungrateful offspring who will find the fashions of their parents day hilarious.
I do hope that you find another cosy place for your lunch. Such a shame when something that is a treasured part of our lives suddenly ceases to be.
Bella, this must be agonising for you and your daughter at the moment. But rest assured that in years to come it will all be a treasured part of your family history. The story will be told and chuckled over for years to come and down the generations. That might be cold comfort just now, but I promise you, it will happen.
Dumpling, you poor love. It sounds as though you have an invisible jury of critics in your head, who are all wagging their fingers at you and pointing out your mistakes. They enjoy making life uncomfortable for you. Well, they are not needed. Dismiss them. Send them on their way. Usher them into a space capsule and send them to the moon. You are fine whatever happens around you. Nothing has to be perfect, life would be intolerable if it was. And, as my wise old English mistress used to tell us, life's too short to be worrying over nonsense, it will all be the same in 100 years. Bless you.
Nelski, a voucher seems a good idea. Failing that, what about something for their garden? Unless they live in a penthouse flat of course.
RR. Both of your options seem to have the proviso that they may not work. Fix your mind on that when deciding which procedure you prefer that may not work.
nannywindow, fingers crossed for you.
As for me, it is furniture moving day for me. When the Removal Men delivered my furniture, they got everything into the right rooms, but not necessarily in the right places. I have lived with it for 3 months now and have had enough, so today I am going to try to make sense of my chaotic bedroom. Not an easy job as the room is quite small and there is little room for manoeuvre. I have moved from a large 4 bedroom house to a small 2 bedroom bungalow. I thought I would do it while I could still do it myself and not inflict the job on my children when I am too old and incapable.
On reflection, perhaps I should have been less kind and enjoyed watching them struggle. They would certainly have earned their inheritance.I believe that friends are quiet angels

TA have you looked in Monsoon and DEbenhams ,DGD and I saw some nice ones in there for around £200,still a lot of money ,
we eventually ended up in a specialist shop ,they advertise they will not sell the same dress twice for the same school prom (we are in Suffolk soon use to you )
The owner asked my budget £500 max but preferably £400 and I trusted her not to show anything more expensive .DGD fellin love with oneT £230 ,( when they try on them one’ you and they know instantly.Bear in mind that you need to factor in the cost of shoes, bras, hair and makeup ,total was £500 .
a lot of money ,but her mum ,our daughter sadly died 9 yrs ago ,it was one of the things I had promised DD I would do.so in a way a privilege
hope that helps13 -
Also alterations and I should have said £320 !10
