This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Morning everyone
I love comps - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but blustery.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, and I've bathed, am dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. Back now getting better. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was liver, bacon, sausage, mash, veg and gravy. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight will be something and chicken. I may just put herbs/rub on the chicken and roast it, and serve with scotch eggs, pork pie, new potatoes, coleslaw and salad, as I have a whole pork pie and some unopened scotch eggs that will need using up.
Work today and then on days' off - have loads to do tomorrow and Friday as not one much for the last couple of weeks due to my back. Need to remember to take it steady though and not try to do too much because it's feeling easier.
Keep safe and well x

WEIGHTLOSS SINCE JUNE 2009 - 5 ST 2LB15 -
Morning folks and thanks I LOVE COMPS. It was light earlier than ever this morning but a very nippy start so the heating is on to take the chill off.
The excursion to the Prom dress shops was an eye opener to say the least!! Mostly at some of the prices. Just who is daft enough to spend over a thousand quid on a dress for their DD for a one off wear!! There was disagreement between us as expected! The ones we thought were the most flattering she didn't like. What she liked we didn't! The second shop was a bit less pricey but she still didn't find "the dress" Another shop planned for Saturday morning! A few of her friends have got their dresses there so DD has high hopes for that!!
It's the Golden Girls bus trip day today. We seem to have alternated between Ilkley and Skipton this winter so today may be an Ilkley day. As usual it will involve browsing, lunch and wine. Hopefully we will track down another roaring fire too!
Our final day at our coffee shop yesterday was quite moving. Many bye byes said to other regulars and the staff. It was a very limited menu as they have been letting stocks run down this last week. Knowing we are quite partial to the Cheesy Broccoli Bake they said they had put 2 to one side for us! We made pigs of ourselves with those, garlic bread and a bowl full of cheesy chips to share!! Then I wonder why this excess half a stone is still glued to me!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. NAN I hope the news from the Oncology appointment is as good as it can be. Thinking of you. Take care all xx

Morning all
This morning i feel emotionally exhausted before i start. DD2 was inconsolable yesterday and i wasn't far behind . All the flights accommodation for the wedding have now been canceled by the airline /package operator for all the guests except the bride and groom and his parents as they booked with TUI and their cut off date is 06/04 whereas everyone else was 26/04 So we had a problem they at present will not get a refund if they cancel a potential loss of £8k but if they cant go they dont get married no house and DD2 will have no job but the likelihood is that TUI will extend the date next week . Cue a quick trip to the registry office to see if they can book that . DD2 was mortified as ours is in the local town which is a bit of a dump in all honesty the registrars were lovely there and so helpful but they needed to fill in new forms by next wednesday if they wanted to marry in the UK not easy when her boyfriend is in the army There is a registry office in my mums town which is an old stately home with beautiful gardens but is always super busy we called them explained the situation and they managed to squeeze them in on the sunday at 12 so we have that in the bank if we need to but it is looking like this will have to be the one. So it looks like we have a whole wedding to plan in 4 weeks so today will be scouting local reception venues florists DJ's and so on as well as mum is having an oven delivered so i need to be there and we are off in a bit to collect a dinning table set for DD2.
TA enjoy the bus trip
Ruby thinking of you as always
Right Dolly needs walking and i need to rouse DD2 and DS to help the man with a van collect this table
Have a great day whatever you are up to xx

Good morning everyone
I'm feeling a lot better today thankfully although I didn't get too much sleep due to worries. My best friend is coming to see me this afternoon so we will drink coffee and put the world to rights and I will feel even better. Thank God for lovely friends, they help you not feel so alone.
Phoebe had a nice birthday. Her choice of lasagne and garlic bread for dinner was well received but the cake was a little dry. I wish I had made one myself really but Phoebe said it was fine. Her big sister has a birthday next week but I have already made the card for her and she just wants money as a present so that is easy.
I'm going to have the day off of knitting as I found I was making a lot of mistakes yesterday and I think it is because I am feeling a bit pressured. Hopefully the time off will reset me. I will crack on and make some Mother's Day cards for my mum and MIL. The time is getting closer for our big family meal out and my anxiety is rising rapidly. I wish I could look forward to things like this instead of focussing on all the things that could go wrong. Aaargh, I am such a baby!
Right, the grandchildren are coming over for dinner tonight as their mum is working a late shift so I will think about that instead as they always put a massive smile on my face. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care all xx

Morning All
So sorry to hear of your woes bella, such a lot to organise in a short space of time.
Glad you're feeling better dumpling.
Thinking of you RR.
Shame about your coffee shop TA, how nice of them to keep you your favourite.
Wet and windy again here, it's so depressing! Anyway, I've had a haircut and feel good about going swimming yesterday. The regulars were wondering where I had got to so got a good welcome from them.
Dentist after work today, I'll wait at DD's and play with Sophie until it's time to go.
Happy Wednesday, take care. XX13 -
Morning
TA £1000 for a dress? I reckon my whole wardrobe isn't worth that!
nanny hope Mr Fix its appointment goes well today lovely x
bella another vote for reg office followed by a big do when this settles, cross posted so see you are already sorting it hope it all works out and she gets a refund
Bad bad sleep last night ...sort yourself out sandman please
Seeing my consultant today which will a total a whole 3 times since mid Jan wouldn't mind his job. Sadly Bp hasn't reduced much after all so I think my first reading was me not putting the cuff on properly so will be asking about that and if this med just needs more time.
Question please ....I have a friend who has been really good helping me out during this time and her hubby has done loads too. Would love to get them both a gift to say thank you but stuck for ideas. Money is not particularly plentiful atm but I want to get them something they will both appreciate. My thought is a voucher for a local restaurant but open to suggestions
Pasty and beans was good last night then chilli tonight (if I can stay awake) Have a good day all

Good morning, sunny and blustery here, yesterday was the same.Sorry to hear you're having such a bad time Bella, it looks like it's going to have to be the Register Office then.Nels, your idea for friends sounds good, is there somewhere they particularly like that you know of?Bl**dy h*ll TA £1000 for a prom dress!!! As Neski says, my whole wardrobe wouldn't be worth that! Mind, as I often buy from chazzers, it wouldn't. Hope you get Dgd suitably attired at a more reasonable cost.Ruby, thinking of you, and also Mr Fix it.Have a good Wednesday everyone.Take care folks12

Morning all
Drizzling rain here again it seems to have rained forever ! I have a wash on the go but it will have to go in the td today, I am going to have a tidy round this morning and get the pup out for her run and then have a nap.
I saw the reconstruction consultant yesterday who has now confused me by giving me two options for the reconstruction ! one is implants which are safer nowadays and one is a major op which involves taking two muscles from my back and while still attached bringing them round the front and taking fat from my inner thighs and tummy and forming the breast from that, the recovery is a year to eighteen months recovery and a much bigger op also I would be cut across my back chest tummy and inner thighs and would be hugely uncomfortable for some while, the second op would be in a hospital about 1.5 hrs away and I could be in for up to 2 weeks, he did day if this op goes wrong it could go very wrong but on the other hand the implants sometimes go go wrong which might mean another op later on ! Arrrggghhhh so another decision to be made but again I think I am almost there.
My back woke me this morning so I will take painkillers in a while, roll on the results of the bone scan as this is worrying me a lot atm.
Nanny I hope today goes as well as it can for you both xx
TA my dd wore a corset type top and black tutu type skirt for fer prom, she looked lovely and unique and the whole outfit was under £50, it does seem a shame to spend that much on something only to be worn once xx
Bella my heart is going out to your dd poor thing must be in bits, hopefully they will get it sorted and be able to marry and get there money back to re-book for later xx
Nels good luck with the consultant I hope it goes well, how about cooking your friends a lovely meal when you are able to ? Im sure they would not want you spending your cash on them, you need it more atm xx
Have good days all xx

Good morning
And it's sunny. Hooray
nmlc - glad your back is a bit better. You're right to take it steady though for a while.
TA - where are your cafe staff going to work now? Perhaps you could follow them, groupie style. I agree about the prom dress prices. I was horrified at £1k for a wedding dress! Perhaps I'm living in the past!
Oh Bella - such a worry. I'm sure you'll get it sorted between you, but it's stress you could all do without, at what should be a time of joyful anticipation.
Dumpling - I'm glad your friend is coming today. It'll be good to talk things through with someone.
Nelski - love the voucher idea. We're going for afternoon tea next week thanks to a Christmas present voucher. Nice to have a treat paid for by someone else! Hope the bp settles but I suppose that's unlikely in a hospital setting!
Had a lovely teatime with DGC yesterday, mostly doing jigsaws. Makes a nice change from ipads for them!
Another peaceful day here, I hope
Happy sunny Wednesday everyone12
