I am currently with Virgin Media Broadband. I am so confused, should I switch to Sky/BT?
Which provider is more reliable and provides consistent connection?
or should I stick with Virgin Media?
Sometimes I do have some hick-ups with vm but when it works it is fine.
Mostly I stream sometimes WFH and game.
thanks in advance for your suggestions.

The reliability of any BB provider may depend upon where you live so whats excellent in one place may not be elsewhere. The only thing you know is how good or bad is your VM service.
BT/Sky would mean you have a new line connected to your premises. You may already have an existing line that can be re-connected. You probably know that VM can offer you speeds of up to 500 Mbps whereas BT/SKY top speed will be 85Mbps if available. But for most users 50Mbps is plenty. But if your have special speed needs for WFH rather than just emailing then you should talk to your work colleges about this. You need to run a "Broadband availability in my area" checker to see what speed you can expect on BT/SKY.
If you have a landline then you can switch the number but If you need this for work I  would recommend you get the new service in first before cancelling the VM one and asking them to transfer the number. Yes you would have to pay for two services for a time.
If changing is about getting the best deal then check out how much BT/Sky would cost you for the first contract.
Assuming you are happy with your VM service and are not in contract  or soon to be out of contract with VM ring VM and go though to Retensions, tell them you are thinking of leaving, and ask what price VM will give you.
One advantage of going down the BT/SKY route is that after the first contract it is then a lot easier to switch to other non VM companies to get the best prices.

All providers will in the main, give good , reliable service, it’s the case that people with issues post on forums such as this berating their provider , but the majority with nothing to complain about don’t post about how adequate or better their provider is, so there is no reason to believe that if you do switch, you will be sorry.
Unless price is the only consideration, most would consider if the ‘new’ provider can deliver speeds necessary for their needs, if the provider or providers under consideration use Openreach then you can check your address to see the probable speed

TBH, if you are happy with your provider and the price is OK why bother , but moving to a provider other than VM will probably be absolutely fine, and you shouldn’t feel tied to VM.
If the phone number is unimportant, you could even get the OR based provider in and working before the VM service is ceased, that way you know you won’t be without service.
