Near me the council painted a yellow box on the approach to a mini r-a-b. There wasn't enough space for a stationary vehicle between the exit from the box and the give way line of the r-a-b, and from the entry side of the box it was impossible to see what was coming from the right at the r-a-b. So the options were 1. disobey the box or 2. risk disobeying the give way line and causing an accident. Luckily the council saw sense and scrubbed the yellow box. Other less enlightened councils would no doubt have put a camera up.0 -
The problem with junctions like that is that so many 'me first' drivers will pile across when there's no way to go and block the road for everyone in the other direction. So hatched areas were introduced, preventing people from entering unless it was clear. They get pretty regularly ignored, so cameras were introduced. I'm really not sure what else they can do except close one of the exits.
