Barclaycard Forward confusing credit limit increases. What’s the deal?

I sent a secure message and asked for barclaycard to increase my limit and received this message back (I have had the card for 5 months):

Thanks for your message.

I would like to inform that we are unable to offer you a credit limit increase as we require 2 years account history before we look to review a limit on this type of product.

We hope to provide you with a credit limit sufficient to give you the flexibility you need. You account is regularly reviewed and we may be able to increase this in the future.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

I keep getting conflicting information from people, people are telling me they review limits after 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and yet barclaycard say 2 years (ridiculous amount of time)

can somebody with a barclaycard FORWARD/INITIAL please give me a straight answer as I took this card out to build credit and increase my limits, not sit on a £250 limit for 2 years.

No one with a Barclaycard can give you a straight answer, as they will only know their own experience.  They won't be aware of any alternative customer strategies or changes in Barclaycard policy.

The only thing you can go with is what Barclaycard are telling you.

I want to hear from people who have limits increased on this particular card before 2 years so I can go back to barclaycard with this info because I find it very difficult to believe that a credit card would want 2 years credit history before any limit increase... If this really is a policy change then I am closing the card

But Barclaycard already have that info.  It won't change the risk strategy they've applied to you.

It seems that two years has been a consistent policy for a while.  See the thread linked below:

Barclaycard have different rules for different people - there's no 'One fixed policy' for all. I have the Forward card - and initially it didn't work with Apple Pay - I rang them up, and they said 'Sorry your card can't work with Apple Pay' - which I knew wasn't true as others here on the forum had a Forward card and Apple pay - and came to the conclusion that they don't apply the same rules to everyone - but likely group us in various risk profile sections - and give us additional features and credit limit increases at certain times. So if you do hear of someone who has got an increase - that doesn't mean you'll be entitled to one. I'm sure many financial institutions work the same way.

  • So I got my account open (for the forward) 4rd march '20 card arrived yesterday with a 400 limit and a note that I can take out 100 cash and apply for a limit increase from the 6th month onwards and no other offer what so ever...well that was the information yesterday, I've registered for online and app still no offers at all but this  morning I logged in and I had an increase offer to £600,6.9% interest BT until paid in full with no fee,6 months 0% intrest on purchase and a sort of installment payment on large purchase(like a loan with no interest) but a fee of £5 for 6 payments £10 for 12 or £15 for 24 I'm so confused as of how Barclaycard reached this decision in matter of hours,I've not even got the chance to get to an ATM to change the pin yet
