Barclaycard and limit increases

So, I have had a Barclaycard account since September 2017. I’ve never carry a balance and anything I spend is paid off in full every month, this is the case for the other three credit cards I also have.
I had enquired about a limit increase on the Barclaycard account and was advised by their call centre I would have to have the account for two years before they would consider an increase. Is this standard practice with Barclaycard? Two years is an awfully long time, especially when most other credit card companies review limits between 3 to 6 months.
To clarify, I am not desperate for an increase. I have sufficient on my other cards. It’s more that the Barclaycard limit is that low that I have no real use for the card as it currently is. If it is indeed two years before a limit increase is considered, I may as well just close the account.

Have you tried requesting an increased credit limit online? Just click on 'account services' and one of the options is 'change credit limit'. That was how I changed mine. I can't say for certain whether it was in the first two years though.0

That’s rubbish I had a limit increase on the 5th month!0

There's a link here: https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/customer/change-credit-limit?ref=home-mainnav about customers increasing their credit limits.
There's no mention about having to wait two years! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I increased mine, on the app, after about six months. It was done instantly.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

I will give the app a go and see what that comes back with. Do limit increase applications leave a hard search on your file? I!!!8217;ve never applied for a limit increase before, all limit increases that occurred on my other cards were instigated by the credit card companies.0

Some companies do leave hard searches but Barclaycard does not in fact if you ask for increase it says it will have no impact.

I!!!8217;ve just upped my limit from £350-£500 done online via Barclaycard no search was needed, I!!!8217;ve not had an increase in over 2 years though, every time I requested one they said noGood things come to those who wait...
House Deposit Savings: £450/£10,0000 -
i actually have just seen the same thing. I got an initial card and given limit of £250. I thought i would use this card to improve my credit and use for work expenses that i can claim back and pay the card off in full. When i requested an increase it says im required to have the card two years before they raise the credit limit. i applied for the increase online0

2 years is ridiculous.
I’d look else where. I’ve had a Barclaycard for years and you can request a limit increase every 4months.
Perhaps they have changed things recently.0 -
Is yours a Barclaycard Initial? Looks like @d_rok69 has had this issue with that particular type.
Anyway, seems like Barclaycard don't check your credit record when asking for a limit increase (as others have said) but they refer to information they already hold about you from the credit reference agencies and according to the way you have used the card.
So, if there is anything that might have been in any way detrimental to you having a higher credit limit when you applied back in 2017, that could presumably still be having an effect now. You can ask them to do a credit check on you to see if that makes a difference.
If I were you, I'd probably ditch the card. You've already said you don't need it and you have access to sufficient credit elsewhere.0
