One Call Debt recovery

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice please (apologies for the lengthy explanation!).
I cancelled my policy with one call back in Sept/Oct 2019 within the 14 day cooling off period and at the time there was an O/S balance of £6.97 which they said they would write to me confirming the amount due etc. Between then and yesterday I have received 0 correspondence from them in any form.
Today comes and I have a letter from their ‘solicitors’ saying I owe £110. I immediately call thinking it must be a mistake and the chap on debt recovery tells me I owed £6.97 back in September and despite 4 letters I still hadn’t paid it!! I told him I had completely forgotten but that I had received nothing prior to this letter to remind me. He said 4 letters were sent and 3 emails. I definitely didn’t receive the letters and in searching my email I can’t find anything since 2018. If I’d have received an email reminding me to pay £6.97 - I’d have paid it!!! I told him I think it’s completely unreasonable to charge me £110 for a £6.97 debt and refused to pay it. He put me on hold and came back to say they could knock it down to £50 odd. I still said no, arguing why I should have to pay beyond the £6.97 when I had received no contact. He confirmed they had my phone number and yet no calls, just these alleged letters and emails. I offered to pay the £6.97 and he said no. He said they couldn’t accept that amount to close the account, I explained I wasn’t suggesting they would close it but I would have at least paid what I originally owed - still said no!

I asked to speak to someone with regards to my dissatisfaction and he said there was nobody else to speak to so I informed him I would happily go to court (which I will).
Can anyone advise where (if anywhere) I stand re this? Yes, I forgot about the £6.97 initially but I can hand on heart say I have not received a single letter / email from them reminding me. It’s £6.97 for goodness sake’s and now they want to add on all this extra for debt recovery action that I’ve never been aware of or received.

Citizen's Advice would seem a good starting point; You could also send a SAR to One Call requesting all the information and correspondence they hold on you. This should reveal why you didn't receive a final invoice for the outstanding debt. Hopefully other on the forum will offer specialist advice.1
