EON - moved house and not charging?

Hello All,
I moved home in October 2019, rang EON before I left submitted final meter readings and submitted new readings for new place. Old account is now inactive and shutdown and fully paid. However, I keep getting letters that state "to homeowner" you need to pay for your electric etc etc were sending bailiffs round etc etc, I keep ringing EON and they say because the letters arent addressed to me it doesnt mean anything. I just have to wait until my new account is up and running... Seems a bit weird? Shall I just keep waiting or ring again?

If you moved back in October 2019, your new account should be up and running by now, and indeed I would have expected at least 1 bill by now if billed quarterly, if not monnthly bils with is more normal.

Best to check directly with the supplier what the hold up is.
If they have not correctly registered you then that would (a) explain why bills are addressed " to homeowner" (although that is wierd as it's usually to the occupier, not the owner :/) and (b) you will be being charged at the suppliers most expensive default rate.

Who did you submit the new places readings to? You need to sign up with whoever is currently supplying the new place, you can’t just move your EON account with you.

Is EON actually the supplier at your new home?  You can't take a supply contract with you.  When you move in, you are supposed to contact the existing supplier for that property, so they can start billing you.  Once that is done, you can start the move to another supplier if you wish.
So you may be running up big bills with the existing supplier, while contacting someone who isn't even your supplier any more.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Are you saying you moved in 2019, have never had an account, put in meter readings, had a bill, or paid for the energy you have used ?

You and everyone in these islands are on a "deemed contract" the minute you begin to consume energy.

    - see: https://www.ukpower.co.uk/business_energy/deemed-energy-contract

"deemed contract is normally in place when any type of customer moves into new premises and starts to consume gas, electricity, or both, without agreeing a contract with a supplier. A deemed contract may also exist where an existing contract comes to an end but the customer continues to consume energy"

    Best of luck my friend.

Hello campbell19925 and already some good advice on here - thanks all.
Were we the supplier when you moved in or are you switching to us?  If we were the existing supplier, an account could've been set up straightaway by our Home Moves team. In this case, I suspect the letters you're receiving are for a previous occupier.
If you're switching to us from another supplier, it takes roughly two and half weeks from the time the switch is started before we start supplying the electricity. In this case, I don't understand why we're sending letters about a past debt as charges for previous usage will be down to the old supplier and not us. As MWT asks, are the letters from us?
Please let me have a bit more information campbell19925 and I'll be happy to advise.
