I posted about Arthur back in 2016 when he first came to us on this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5570747/introducing-arthur/p1
In 2018 he got Herpes causing his eyes to ulcerate, cost us over a grand in treatment and took 8 months to heal completely but we got there eventually. He's worth every penny
Arthur has never been a lap cat, fiercely independent, has his cat flap, comes and goes as he pleases. Always comes to meet me at the door when I come in and follows me around the house, but never wants picked up. Likes to sit in the garage watching Mr S as he works on the cars. Sometimes if I am really honoured he will jump up on the sofa beside me and snuggle in, but never on me .
Anyways, the long story short, Arthur started turning his nose up at food a week ago. He would still eat but had become really fussy and we had to feed him away from mums cat Timmy as if he didn't eat quick enough Timmy would jump in and take it. Middle of last week I had to go away for a few days to babysit the grandkids, leaving both cats with mum. Came home Friday night and Arthur was skin and bone and cried when I lifted him. Vets Saturday morning and the worse possible outcome, they are sure he has cancer
He was given an appetite stimulant and he's going in Tuesday morning for scans to confirm the diagnoses because hes so young ( nearly 4 )
Since Saturday morning hes not moved from the spare bed. We are taking him food and water but leaving him in peace mostly. We are now coming to terms that we won't be bringing him home from the vets
No idea why Im writing this all here really. Guess I just need to be able to say to someone what's happening and how terribly sad I am without bawling my eyes out. We took in Arthur after we had to say goodbye to Alfie, I honestly thought Id never get attached to a cat as much as I do dogs. I can truly say I was wrong in that respect, I really love the wee fella and Im so going to miss him

I'm sorry that your lovely boy is so ill. You have loved him enough to let him be himself and relate to you on his own terms - somehow he will have known that. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.1
