I have a mifi unit, but looking at SIM only costs for data SIMs they seem twice as expensive as phone SIM only ones. I cant understand why, and also would a phone SIM work in my (unlocked) mifi unit. Thanks

The phone sim would work just means if you needed a txt to come through to sim you may have to take it out of the mifi unit to receive txt1

Great news, still baffles me how much more expensive data only SIMs are considering they don't even include minutes or texts, one of life's mysteries lolLife's a gamble, be lucky!0

I'vw been using a 3 phone sim for years in my unlocked mifi unit, use it only for data. It works fine.

I am looking for a sim to go in a mifi unit in my mobile caravan. I thought any sim would do but talk mobile and voxi have both told me their sims would not work. 3s signal is patchy and rest seem exorbitant. Suggestions please0

In simple terms, the traffic management is different being “tuned” to fixed or desktop use. If you like, mobile broadband has a higher priority and suffers less from speed reductions at busy times. As an example, if you were it and about you wouldn’t notice a WhatsApp message took longer to reach you because of slow data. But you would notice a slow down if you were gaming, streaming or accessing files on a laptop.LifesAGamble said:Great news, still baffles me how much more expensive data only SIMs are considering they don't even include minutes or texts, one of life's mysteries lolOf course, has mobiles become more powerful this distinction is disappearing.0 -
My understanding is they can't stop you using data in mifi.Rockcliffe8 said:I am looking for a sim to go in a mifi unit in my mobile caravan. By the way, vodafone has data only sim, it is £33 for 30 days contract.
But if you looking at 12 months or 24 months contract, it would be better to sign up with those phone tariff with cash back redemption.0
