Morning all.
Dumpling I can't believe that your HA won't put in a shower for you, after all they would be enhancing their own property. I remember back in the 1976 drought someone on TV demonstrating how to have an all over wash by standing in a large bowl, soaping yourself all over and rinsing yourself with a bucket of water and a large sponge. Does that appeal?
Goodness Gers, what a horrid anniversary. You have been a wonderful daughter to your DM. I can't think of many who would give up their home and their life to care for a parent. It's difficult to know what to wish for, isn't it? Hope you both enjoy her birthday tomorrow.
Nelski, good luck with the BP monitor. A friend of mine had one and when she went back to the hospital for the results to be analysed she spent 25 minutes driving round trying to find somewhere to park, was late for her appointment and when she finally panted in, the consultant said that either the machine had broken or she was dead.
I see an unusual light outside. It could just be Sun. I must investigate.
Church this morning and the rest of the day an unknown adventure.I believe that friends are quiet angels

SR, I'm another Piscean - plus my birthday is St Patrick's day so it's easy for the family to remember. This time of year is a busy one for family birthdays then it all calms down with just Chris in June and Esben in November now.
Talking of Chris we are off to see them this afternoon with a stop in Ely to see an exhibition of clothes from various programmes like the Crown. Steve's sister is still with us, she goes home on Tuesday.

Lovely sunny morning, OH says the weather station is showing 58c, so heating is off and windows open, I was almost tempted to christen the new clothes line, but then remembered if I washed coloureds today I would have todays laundry in next weeks wash.........which would have overloaded the machine.
Gers - thinking about you, a fine example of a caring daughter, I am not sure I could have been as selfless, as my Grand mother would say 'you will get your reward in heaven' .
Veggies done for supper and in a large bowl of water. I bought an electric steamer on Thursday, so tried it out last night, I also did toad in the hole in the combi-oven rather than the Remoska, I was pleased with both, although next time will only make up half the batter mix for the yorkies.
Yesterday I did a large order for Morrison, two weeks of groceries, see how it pans out, being delivered on 19th March. I cannot afford to have a weekly delivery, so once a month I will have to go to Aldi for meat.
OH is off out into the garden shortly for half an hour or so, our grass cutter came yesterday and cut the lawn for us, I need to get out when the ground is a bit drier and do some weeding, I also need to split some plants.
Our new neighbour signs for the bungalow tomorrow, she is not moving in straight away, needs to get a few things done and is also going away for a couple of weeks on holiday.
So roast shoulder of lamb for supper with all the trimmings, something chocolate for dessert I think.11 -
Morning all
Nice and bright here atm but it has been raining and more rain due at lunch time and for the rest of the day.
Thank you for all the Birthday wishes I had a lovely if quiet day, OH and dd spoiled me although dd has no money atm cos its all going on solicitors, we still called it a practice birthday and will celebrate again later on. My OH bought me a lovely pair of fur lined boots as my old ones had no grip left on the bottom and I think I got 6 boxes of chocsno good for the diet but I love a box of chocs !
Onto today we will get the pups out before lunch and before the rain comes, then its roast pork and all the trimming for later, we will have a quick sweep and mop of the floors and that will do for today.
Nels well done at the hospital yesterday that was a lot of walking !! xx
Have good days all xx14 -
Hello allI managed to sort through my small freezer yesterday, but that still leaves my chest freezer to do, so I will attack that one today. Mr Fix It is making another loaf of bread, I knew there was a reason we weren't using it.............it's because we won't leave the fresh bread alone !!!I've asked Dad not to come over today as I don't want to infect him with this lurgy. He wasn't very happy, but he obliged me as I don't really feel up to cooking a roast, but he did tell me that apparently the chest consultant told him that his extra anti-b makes him immune to everything
(He didn't, I was there too) I shall cook the pork loin joint though as it's already defrosted, but I don't think we shall have a roast later unless I can persuade my chef to do it.
As the sun is shining I have opened all the upstairs windows wide to get some fresh air blowing through, but the sky looks a bit watery so I will keep my eyes open in case I have to run to close them. Run ! ha! those days are long goneDumpling could you get a step for getting into the bath to go with a bath bar . They do them with 2 steps and a handle too, I only know 'cos they offered them to my Mum. Maybe your OT ( or whatever you have ) could lend you both ?Hope everyone has a goodish day.Take care allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
DUMPLING I have to agree with NAN. Have a word with your physio and see if they will ask for a visit from an Occupational Therapist about bath aids. When Bob couldn't get in the bath he was loaned a bath seat with a rise and fall action, using a chargeable operating control. I had to help him on to it, lower it a bit and swivel him under the shower. When he became less mobile it was too much effort but maybe something like that would be of help to you?.If not they may be able to suggest an alternative. And you never know they may be able to hassle the HA on your behalf."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10

Ancient of Days ~ I wondered if anyone would twig my username, you're the first, well done, and yes I've lived near Molly Windley's fictional home all my life.
Dumpling - I'm thirding getting some advice from an occupational therapist - my friend got loaned some steps with a handle, surely they can come up with something to help while you improve your mobility. I'm someone who has had a life long challenge with their weight, I know how hard it is to keep going consistently with it, it sounds like you're doing really well.
I'm just pottering today, took youngest ds for walk at local beach yesterday to try and blow some cobwebs away, still suffering annoyingly from anxiety about the whole coronavirus thing, but trying to keep on going, it's so illogical, worry never changed anything so why do I do it?8 -

My day has been busy and almost productive. I went out to collect an order from Boots and did shopping for the birthday girl tomorrow. Then my friend Alan came to view the building site and declared himself happy with the work and the way it's being done. He's an architect so knows what he's talking aboutWhilst he was here I was lamenting the lack of dishwasher and the terrible state of DM's built in gas oven and grill. The grill stopped working years ago and the oven is rather tempremental. He's suggested a slimline DW underneath a new electric oven.I approached DM about it with some anxiety, however she took to the news very well, especially as she knows that the oven situation needs sorting. So... I've been online to research the goods already and chosen the two items I'd like. Work will have to wait until after the dining room is finished and the hall floorboards sorted, however I'm extremely excited to think about a dishwasher. As you may remember- I hate washing dishes! It's been a lovely spring day here, not sure it's going to continue tomorrow.7
