Old Style Daily Sunday 8th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.essage

Good morning everyone
I haven't had much sleep but I am happy as Lilly came home for a night and we were up till 2am chatting. She seems so happy with her partner, she's enjoying her job and everything seems to be going well for her. I do miss her so much but I don't miss the arguments and stress. Anyway, she is going to stay for lunch before heading back to her partner's house.
I have been knitting like a demon and have finished off several projects which were waiting to be sewn up. My grandson asked for a bunny and I found some wool which is so soft it is like knitting with clouds. Everyone who has felt it has asked for a bear or bunny made from it so I will be busy for quite some time yet.
Steve is cooking a cottage pie for dinner as we didn't fancy a roast today. We have a choice of apple pie or cheesecake for pudding so I am going to have to restrain myself and just have a tiny bit. The diet is still going well and I am very hopeful of losing some weight next weigh day.
The housing association have refused to put in a shower for me so I am still having to wash at the kitchen sink. I was a bit sad when they called me to tell me but it has just fired my determination to lose enough weight that I will be able to use the bathroom like everyone else. I have 2 problems. One, I cannot get my legs up high enough to get into the bath itself and two, I cannot stand for long enough to have a shower even with handrails etc. The only other possibility is to move to somewhere with a wet room already built in. That will be the last resort as I love my home and neighbourhood and the last thing I want to do is pack up and move somewhere else.
Well, Phoebe has just left for work so that is my cue to go and get a drink before going to watch a bit of tv. I will most definitely be needing a nanna nap later though. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care all xxx

Good morning everyone
Happy Birthday for yesterday RedRuby, hope you had a lovely evening.
Welcome MollyWindley, from your name, I'm wondering if you are from Norfolk!
Monnagran, it is nice to see you here.
I had a busy day yesterday, trying to catch up with the washing now that the machine has been repaired (by OH) and visiting a friend plus some personal shopping. Thought I would sleep well as I was tired but I seem to be back in the nightmare phase, goodness knows why.
OH shopped yesterday and the supermarket was stocked as usual though shock horror, he was unable to get his usual marmalade and had to buy a different kind, not sure if he will manage to overcome this blow.
I have lots to do so my initial plan is to procrastinate.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back17 -
Morning folks and thanks for the early start DUMPLING. I'm pleased Lilly came home to see you, she sounds to have really cheered you up. After all the cold and frosty starts we are back to the usual drabness with drizzly rain. But at least it feels milder!
DS called up yesterday bearing gifts. Some beautiful lilies and a big box of choccies. An early present as they won't be here for my birthday = they are off to Krakow for a few days. I made a request for some of the dark choc biscuits I fell in love with from the Wedel coffee shop! I am salivating at the thought of them!
Nothing planned for today. A few pottering jobs this morning and then my feet up with a new book after lunch. I have a piece of chicken defrosting for lunch but yet to decide what I will transform it into.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. RR I hope you enjoyed your special day and NELSKI, our brave little soldier, I hope the hospital visit went as well as it could. Take care all xx

Just popping in to say hello everyone
Dumpling, we only have a shower over the bath and when I had a badly injured leg, occupational health provided a bath board which I could sit on - a God send when I could finally get up the stairs to the bathroom again
hice to see some sunshine yesterday - got out to do a bit in the garden and the sun is out here at the moment.
have a lovely Sunday everyone 😊😘14 -
Morning All
Good to hear that Lily came to visit you dumpling, sounds like you're busy knitting again.
I'm envious of your sunshine Paulie, it rained all day yesterday and although dry at the moment there's more to come.
I had a lovely day in Glasgow yesterday, bought 2 pairs of shoes and a new bra along with some rubbish for the DGC's Easter gifts. It was fairly quiet in the shops but busy at the afternoon tea hotel, which was lovely by the way as it was a buffet so could eat the things I liked!
Once I've cleaned the bathrooms I'll get on with some sewing and have a nice relaxed Sunday I hope. Take care. XX15 -

Morning everyone....just having breakfast and a catch-up, then I have a few jobs to do before work.
Little grand daughter is doing well at the minute...she is crawling very fast everywhere and causing havoc as she goes! Not easy when she's attached to her 'milk machine' but she doesn't let it stop her.
She has an appointment at the end of the month for an endoscopy to try to fathom out what is happening in her tummy. Still waiting for an MRI. Some of you may remember she was meant to have both of these when she was in hospital for 3 weeks in January.
It's my dads 85th birthday tomorrow....I'm buying fish and chips from the chippy for his birthday tea.
Well I'd better get moving. Only at work 10 till 2 so doesn't take up too much of my day. I made Thai green curry last night for tea so will have the same tonight....nice and easy!
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning lovelies
Gorgeous blue sky here this morning spring is definitely nearly sprung May sit out this afternoon if the forecast rain stays off.
Saying that I have just written a to do list and its very long...too long for a chill day.
Yesterdays hospital visit went well and of course there was a long walk down a rabbit warren of corridors to get to the right place but I did itbit frustrating to have the world and his wife overtake me but speed will come I suppose. Slightly annoying to find out it was a bit pointless but all clear so that's a positive. When I was very first in hospital I had a small swelling in my neck ...like you get when you have a cold. It lasted 24 hrs then disappeared but the doctor who came to look had referred me for a doppler just in case....this was the first appointment !! So nice to be told all is OK for a change. I am also expecting a BP monitor today ...my terrorist wants me to note BP when resting and after exercise and getting one from the hospital hasn't happed so I got my own.
Last nights meal grew into a full brekky which i woofedToday I fancy a meatless roast dinner to use up lots of veg hanging around in the fridge with yorkies roasts and gravy of course.
Hope Rubes had a lovely birthday I have a feeling her family wouldn't go with ignoring it
Have a lovely day all xx

Good morning folks. There's been very bright sunshine until five minutes ago, it may cone back.DUMPLING - such sad news about not getting a shower installed and then such lovely news about Lily.DP1 - it was a fabulous image you conjured up of your DGD crawling around.Today is the first anniversary of my DM falling, breaking her hip and the nightmare starting. She spent her 91st birthday having her op. Tomorrow she'll be 92 so I want to make it much more 'happy'. So, I've been here for a year and I had spent the previous summer (2018) here too. My home is empty but waiting for me.I'm going out soon as I need wrapping paper. There's a huge amount of the stuff in the one cupboard which is now inaccessible because of the remedial work. Typical! Whilst I'm out I'll pick up a bottle of fizz for tomorrow and collect the present I'd ordered for DM. She's asked for a bottle of 4711 - such a blast from the past.I hope that everyone has a calm and peaceful day. Happy Sunday to all.15
