Even if it's not under any such covenant if bats have already started using it for roosting or hibernating then anyone disturbing those bats (especially by removing it) will be breaking the law as they're a protected species.12 -

Why are you bothered? Bats are pretty unobtrusive as wildlife goes, they're good for the environment and fun to watch swooping about at dusk on summer evenings. I would consider it a plus to be honest.6

It wouldn't be Bovis, would it? They're making great play of incorporating hedgehog highways in their new estates. All greenbrag, as there won't be anyone checking up to see they're still functional when the residents block them to keep cats from using them. What's your problem with a bat box? Chances are it's been designed more carefully for its potential inhabitants' needs than the house it's attached to!2

Nice to see provision for wild life.Probably a condition of the planning permission - check the plans at the council.Removing it would be illegal if bats have taken up resdence - they are protected by law.Out of interest, what exacly is your problem with the bat box?1

Our estate has them, but they fitted them to all of the shared ownership houses.1
