Easyjet - Homeward flight cancelled before deparutre

Options
Looking for some advice on having my homeward flight cancelled pre departure.

We have a ski holiday booked with Crystal ski  and were due to be flying with Easyjet from Edinburgh to Sofia on Saturday 14th of March and returning on Saturday 21st of March. Earlier this week (Monday the 2nd of March) I got a call from Crystal informing me that the homeward flight from Sofia to Edinburgh had been cancelled by Easyjet and that they would now have to either cancel my booking or offer me new flight options for my holiday. Rather than cancel the entire thing we have accepted the next closest departure airport which is Manchester. The departure from Manchester is at 7am (7 hours earlier than the Edinburgh flight) and as we are based up in Aberdeen this will now mean an overnight drive to make it to the airport for around 5am. Theres 4 of us all the suitcases and ski luggage which will probably mean 2 cars making the journey there and back.

I spoke to Crystal about compensation of any form and they have given us £35 each because it was Easyjet who cancelled the flight. I contacted Easyjet through their online claim but as it was the homeward flight which has been cancelled (still more than 14 days away) they weren't interested.

Has anyone had a situation like this before? Is it worth perusing for any kind of compensation or have I had all I'm going to get?

IMO - I think this is probably the best you will get offered.

Sounds like the obligations of the tour operator have been met in that they offered a refund based on the fact that they could not secure an alternative to EDI and also offered an option of a MAN flight.  You accepted this.

The £35 pp is very likely an ex grata offer from Crystal Ski which they can not recover themselves from EasyJet. I read that this was offered after you accepted the change and raised the issue with them.

For the reasons you have given, EasyJet will be unlikely to add to the Crystal Ski offer.  You booked a package and dealings on the matter need to be via Crystal Ski anyway.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but having read the OP it appears that the affected flight was the return flight.  Why then was it the outbound flight that has been changed?

Not a stupid question.  I read as you have but assumed that Crystal Ski offered the MAN option which to OP has accepted.  Perhaps for logistics of car positioning it was better to fly out of and return into the same (MAN) airport.

Good point.  Hadn't considered the positioning aspect.  (All to easy to do, living in London and having the choice of relatively easily departing and returning to different airports).
