This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning folks. No builders today and here I am wide awake.I'll be off for my usual early morning shopping trip later, meanwhile I'm indulging in a bit of browsing around.Yesterday I discovered that the chair which DM has had since 1959 has disintegrating foam. Little piles of yellow crumbs appeared on the carpet when I moved it. I've called in a upholsterer who has promised to come on Monday. The chair is really surplus to requirements but can't be thrown out. Perhaps after being repaired and recovered it can be sold.Anyway...I hope that everyone is doing well, managing to hold on or getting better and that the world is being kind to you. Happy Saturday to all.14

Good morning, and thanks for starting Gers. Hope you can get the chair repaired, I know what you mean about the piles of crumbs. It's a bit grey here, cold and dull. Not a lot planned for today, shopping, and tidying, the usual stuff.I hope everyone has a good day. Take care folks13

Morning folks and thanks GERS for kicking off. We are above freezing this morning and no frost. First time in a while. But of course there is a price to pay - rain due back later! The bright sunny days have been lovely whilst they lasted!
My lovely dad was born this day 108 years ago. It's 41 years since he died but I still think of him every day.
Not a lot planned for today but if I felt so inclined there are plenty of jobs I could find to occupy me! I am hoping once the weather brightens up I will get the urge to do a proper Spring clean and make a start on the much postponed de-cluttering. I have mentioned before that I have big boxes of old tea sets, ornaments, etc that were treasured by my DM and Grandma that I must do something with, but what, as the kids won't want them once I'm not here. Probably not worth much to anyone else but every box holds memories for me.
The usual hm soup is out defrosting for lunch, with a ham salad bagel methinks. My last piece of smoked haddock is defrosting for tonight. As usual with a poached egg on top, roasted baby potatoes and some salad.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, recuperating, sad or lonely. Take care all xx

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, I've had a bath and I'm dressed, DS1 still in his pit, don't expect to see him for a while yet. DS2 settled and happy.
Now light, dry underfoot, no frost but cloudy and dull.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight we're having surf and turf (salmon and steak), steak chips, onion rings, peas and mushrooms - peppercorn sauce/coleslaw if wanted - wanted to find something different to have so this is it - has cost a bit but not as much as a takeaway costs. Will give the menfolk the option of having both the steak and salmon they may not want both. I'll have a side salad with mine and either no chips or very very small portion.
Yesterday I got done as much as I could. Back wasn't so good this morning when I got out of bed, so am dosed up with meds - going to make enquiries about seeing a chiropractorv.
Keep safe and well x

Morning
Fairly busy one for me today for a weekend and includes heading out into the big bad world again. Shopping delivery this morning ...usual order placed and seems to be all arriving apart from butter which is annoying as I wanted to do an apple and rhubarb crumble tomorrow. Will have to be a pie instead with some frozen pastry. Saying that I may be able to pick some later.
Off to a hospital appointment later and am adopting brave little soldier act and getting there myself. Its a doppler test which I had in hospital but is been repeated...not sure why so adds some anxiety but the one thing my consultant is not good at is communication and nagging the GP seems unfair at the moment. I have an appointment with Mr consultant secretive next week and already have a long list of questions. Anyway jumping a cab there then will face the maze of corridors with my trusty stick. Took a walk out with terrorist yesterday and feel more confident to be out and about. Trust me eh most people are going into self imposed lockdown and I want to be out more
Got some pea and ham soup for some lunch then some left over sausage and onion gravy for later which I may just have in a big fat crusty bread sandwich with some fries
Hope everyone has a good day and the builders hurry up and finish for Gers. How are you feeling today nanny? Big love to rubes and anyone else needing a hug12 -
Good morning
Bit grey here but not raining. Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny spring day. Hoping for many more.
Nothing much happening today. I'm babysitting tonight. They'd both be very insulted by the baby tag at age 11, going on 18, and 6 !!
Gers - big job!! But at least it seems to be progressing. How is DM coping!
nmlc - that back seems to be hanging around! Living on painkillers is awful. Looking for an alternative seems a good idea.
Nelski - another trip out. I don't suppose the hospital seems like much of a treat, but it's another step on the road to recovery - literally, in this case.
Happy Saturday all

Forgot to say, Nelski. Funny that your butter is out of stock. Yesterday the supermarket had no double cream! Try as I might, I can't link that to coronavirus panic buying!9

Morning all
Its my Birthday today and while we are celebrating its a bit low key as it just doesnt feel like a normal one, we are calling it my practice Birthday and will celebrate again once my treatment is all finished (hopefully!) having said that my work friend popped round after work yesterday with so many lovely gifts there was a huge bunch of flowers a basket full of lovely foods, cheese crackers chutneys olives etc and a bottle of fizz, also a lovely planter for my patio all full of gorgeous plants and two tokens for Body shop and a book token, I was very touched and it made me cry a bit, but it was lovely and I am lucky to have such good friends. We do presents in the evening here so will open them later, I have bought nice breakfast things to have this morning. TA I share my day with your late dad
I have a towel wash on the go and will try to hang it out for a while and we all need to crack on and give the house a good clean through, I think my sis and her partner and my mum are coming tonight for food so will have to clean !
Nels good luch at the hospital remember to wash your hands a lot xx
Right have good days all xx

Morning all. A much better time to be calling today.
Gears I also have a chair that needs resusitating. It's nothing grand but it was my Nan's . She lived with us and I can still see her sitting in it, so must do as you are doing and get an upholstered to look at it.
TA, I had to make decisions about old family treasures too. Grandmothers bone china tea service, 12 of everything, given to her by her employers when she married in 1900 and used for Sunday tea every week, survived 2 world wars and passed on to me. That sort of thing. It's difficult isn't it?
Nelski, you be careful in those hospital corridors. It's tempting to cha cha down them but don't try it! They can be quite slippery. Good luck with everything today.
As for me, it's church coffee morning. Be still my beating heart.
At least it's not raining. Yet.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.12 -
Happy Birthday RedRuby x Hope you have a good day.
Im sort of self isolating as at risk if i catch Corona as is darling husband. I actually spent 35 pound on some 60 percent hand sanitiser (talk about raking it in) but DD has sent me some from her work (she paid for it) so have cancelled the order. I really hope there is loo roll in the shops today as I have a health condition which means I get through quite a lot of it (I know TMI).
Hope you have a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.11
