Hi
As a VM Mobile customer with 2 sim only deals which have gone up in price, tried to purchase 2 x sim only deals as per this weeks e mail. After trying online and through web chat was told to ring mobile care team. After a lot of time wasted was told this deal is for new lines only and as I am existing VM customer - not available. As usual loyalty counts for nothing.
Might be worth highighting this more clearly on the web page so prevent other VM customers who may wish to upgrade

Are you still in contract with VM mobile?
If not look elsewhere but you need to check coverage map and whether phones are locked.

I'm with VM, last time I upgraded sim only sim cards I had to purchase the new line then port my number over which cancelled the original line. It wasnt an upgrade so much as a new line. It had the option whilst purchasing on one of the last pages, not too sure if its changed though.

    Hi Forwandert and Cranford.

Tyhanks for your responses. I was thinking the same i.e. get the 2 x sims and then port the number over, but when I mentioned to call centre staff they said I may lose my number which I do not want to as have had it years! Somehow there was no clarity over not sure. I am out of contract with VM so only need to give them 30 days notice. So my question - can you port your number from VM to VM via a PAC request?

No, a PAC transfers your number from one network to another, some networks, not all, are happy to let you transfer a number within network, I don't know Virgin's current policy but they used not to allow it.

You could PAC out to another provider on PAYG then PAC back to VM - will prob take 7-10 days to do all in
  • This is a great offer which I've signed up to. I left VM for Three and ported my number twice to get back to VM. I also signed up via Quidco and £20 cashback tracked. Works out to £6.33 a month when the cashback arrives in July. That Quidco offer is no longer available as far as I know. TopCashback is currently offering £15 I believe. I've never had problems with VM. I've been a customer for around 5 years. Data rolls over as well. They gave me a decent deal last year too. 3GB for £7 with 6 months half price. That worked out to £5.25 a month. I always try to follow Martin's advice of staying well below £10 a month for SIM only deals.
