Hyundai i10 gearbox issue

Hi just wondering if there are other people who have had gearbox issues with the i10. I currently have a 66plate with 26k miles that needs the gearbox replacing. It still has 18 months warranty however garage is claiming it's wear and tear!!!

A gearbox isn't normally regarded as a wear and tear item.  Though the clutch would.
It may be worth escalating to Hyundai customer services.

Wear and tear are items which you can reasonably expect to replace as part of vehicle ownership.  Brakes, filters, wipers, clutch, bulbs etc.

That doesn't apply to a gearbox.

I've got an 11 plate i10 and never had problems with the gearbox but I'm having to replace all the brake pipes as they are corroded.
Also the air con compressor seems to be broken, it made a grinding noise and the air con doesn't work anymore.

Possibly a faulty compressor clutch, if it is that type, rather than a swashplate compressor.

Thanks for the replies, it has been escalated to hyundai UK and they just keep coming back with user fault. The garage quoted me £2609 to be replaced. Absolute joke the warranty stands for nothing!!
  • That's a rubbish warranty where the gearbox isn't included.

Have you read the terms and conditions of the warranty?

Have you asked them for an explanation as to how it is "user fault"?
I would also ask for a copy of the warranty (this may be in your service book / manual)
  • If this is Richmond Hyundai try a different franchise

i have been lied to continually for months by these guys
