You may struggle to find a family home in Nanpantan or Woodhouse Eaves for that price.  I don’t know Lutterworth or Wigston well, but all the other areas are fine.  Just do the usual trips round, as every area has the odd street you may find less desirable. Good luck with the house hunting.
Yes I think Quorn, Woodhouse etc will be too expensive for us

You mention "good schools". Good schools can become bad and bad schools become good within a matter of a few years. Similarly certain types of shops can appear or disappear within a few years.
That's true. I guess we can only go on how the area is now

What do you think of Melton mowbray? I've heard that it may not be so nice as an area?
There are good and not so good parts, like every other town.  It has plenty of amenities, decent schools, a train station and decent road links. I don’t live there, but know a few people who do.

Thank you. Do you know of the parts to avoid? And also what do you think of Stoney Stanton?

    Thanks for the help.

Sorry, I don’t know Stoney Stanton. Really, the best thing is to visit areas and see for yourself. Evenings and weekends are probably the best times, as people will be about. For schools, the Ofsted reports are a start, but changes of staff can quickly make a difference. Also, check the NHS website for surgeries, dentists etc.
